Phoebe had run directly to her room in East Attic after the scene with Maia in Study Hall. She hadn't undersstood Maia's turning on her, nor Paige's questioning of her. She hadn't done anything wrong, but the scene kept playing over in her mind as she fled to her room.

And, oh hell, she had started crying in public...in the fucking Study Hall no less. She could just imagine all of the amusement the other students musts be having about all of this.

Phoebe slammed the door and locked it before collapsing on her bed in misery.

The last 24 hours had been so intense and non-stop for her.

Thinking about it, she realized she hadn't yet slept.

She had gotten Jayne kicked out of his house; had a date that had started out great and then became completely awkward due to a slip of the tongue by her; she had a sudden manifestation of her precognitive powers; and she had discovered she had a third sister in Paige.

That was all just last night!

Then today, Maia had gone completely ballistic on her because she was talking to Belthazor.

She buried her face in her hands.

It was times like these that she wishes she was sharing a room with Piper, or that Rogue and Kitty were around more.

"Friends don't scream at you for being a liar and then try to turn your new-found sister against you," Belthazor said. "Whatever her motives are, they're not for your benefit. She's not a good person."

He winced a little inwardly. Ironic, coming from him.

Phoebe shakes her head. "She's not a bad person, Belthazor. She's helping me understand ... she's helping me understand my dreams and the way that things work around here."

She pulls back to look at his face. "You don't like her?"

"Understand your dreams? What do you mean?"

He brought his hand up to her face and wiped her tears away. "No, I don't like her. She got in my face in bio yesterday for no good reason. Much like today, I was just minding my own business when she went all psycho on me. Probably thinks she can get away with it because she was sleeping with the teacher."

Phoebe shrugs.

"I've been having weird dreams since I've been here. We think it's because of all of the weird and scary things that have been going on here."

She closes her eyes when he touches her face. She's trying to remember everything Maia said about him, but he seems to really care about her being hurt.

He tenderly kissed her forehead. "Find someone else to help you with them, then. I don't trust her. She's manipulating you, and she's angry you're not doing what she's telling you to do. I think she has Paige, if she is your sister or not, firmly in her clutches. Stick with Piper. You know she's your sister. You you can trust her."

Ouch.

Phoebe's sniffs and sighs sadly.

"Piper...Piper doesn't know what's happened. She will probably want to talk to Paige about all of this. Paige is her roommate." Phoebe swallows. "So much has happened and I don't know what to make of all of this. I haven't even been able to sleep with everything that's been going on."

"Do you want to try to sleep now, or do you want to go somewhere and get away from all this?" He looked around and let go of Phoebe long enough to get her a tissue ~~and not fetch an athame along with it~~. "I'll stay with you either way...if you want me to."

Phoebe smiles at him as she takes the tissue.

"Will you stay with me until I fall asleep...and then go let Piper know what's happened. She'll have noticed I wasn't in class and I don't want her more worried than necessary."

She hugs him. "She'll trust you if you tell her I'm safe and sleeping."

Trust me. Yeah. She will. *wince*

Belthazor put his hand under her chin and tilted her head up. "Whatever you want, baby," he said, kissing her gently.

"Thank you," she whispers and lays back on her bed. "Let her know that I'm resting and I'm okay?"

He laid down on the bed beside her, his arm around her, letting her rest her head on his chest. "I will, I'll talk to her," he said. "You just go to sleep first." He kissed her again and whispered, "I love you."

Oh, fuck, where did THAT come from?

Phoebe closes her eyes and is asleep immediately. The last 24 hours catching up with her and causing her to crash. As she falls asleep, she hears him say those words and she tries to say something, but she's asleep before she can ask him to repeat what he has said.

Piper. He'll go to Piper for her.

Belthazor waited, listening to Phoebe's breathing until he was sure she was in a deep sleep. Carefully he pulled his arm out from underneath her and eased himself from the bed. Why the hell had he said that to her? It just slipped out. But she didn't react so...maybe she didn't hear him?

Fuck.

He pulled a blanket over Phoebe then quietly left the room to seek out Piper. Oh yeah. This'll be fun.
