Lunch in the Journalism Lab

[chasingangela]

About half an hour after Angela called in their order, a harried-looking worker from Luke's Diner appears at the door of the journalism lab. "I got an order here for ... Angie Chase?"

Angela comes forward to pay and accept the food, then takes it to a small table at the back of the room. Though it's in a public space, the table is surrounded by plants and bookshelves, creating a sense of privacy.

Angela busies herself with unwrapping the food while she waits for Phoebe.

Phoebe sits down at the table across from Angela. "Thanks, Angela. I just can't face people today."

"I can understand that," Angela says quietly. "I mean, not that I know everything in your life, but it seems like we've both had a rough couple of days." She takes a bite out of her chicklen club sandwich. "Want to talk about it?"

Phoebe plays with the straw on her drink.

"Where do I start? I found a long lost sister."

[chasingangela]

"You're kidding," Angela says, but she can tell Phoebe isn't. "Is she ... someone at this school?"

"Paige Matthews," Phoebe says softly. "We never knew about each other, but now we do."

[chasingangela]

"Paige is your sister?" Angela looks at the dark-haired girl. There isn't much of a family resemblance, but something about the eyes ... "Do you know what happened? How did you find out?"

"Maia told us."

[chasingangela]

"Because she ... knows things," Angela says. "Is that what you were arguing about yesterday in study hall? It looked like she was angry at your friend Cole."

"She hates him, Angela. She says he's evil and that he's going to destroy me."

[chasingangela]

"Evil."

That puts Angela's own guy problems into some perspective.

"That would be just awful to hear. Do you... I mean, do you think she might be right?"

Phoebe sighs and plays with her straw.

"I don't know. I don't want her to be. But sometimes I think he's hiding something from me."

[chasingangela]

Angela considers this as she swallows a sip of soda. "Mmm. I kind of hate to say this, but the last time I thought that? He totally was."

Phoebe sighs.

"Belthazor's hiding something from me and Jayne is nervous around me or I hurt him without meaning to." She shakes her head. "Maybe I should become a lesbian?"

[chasingangela]

"The only guy who's said five words to me since I got to this school is a professional killer," Angela says. "I'm totally on board with the lesbian plan."

[sensethevisions]

"I'm conflicted. I care for two guys and I don't know what they feel." Phoebe smiles sadly. "We will run away and become lesbians on our small island nation."

[chasingangela]

Angela matches Phoebe's sad smile. "Maybe it wouldn't be so bad. We could bring chocolate, and wine, and lots of ... cats."
