"Fun is an extra large, platinum blond, triple-sweet cup of coffee. Fun is Comcast Intergalactic. Fun is annoying Professor Jerusalem. When I look in the dictionary, I don't see 'Fandom High Homecoming Dance' anywhere under the definition of 'fun'." George pinches the bridge of her nose and sighs. "Besides, I don't do dances. It's almost against my religion."

"Aw," Rory says sympathetically. "I agree with all of that...especially the part about annoying Professor Jerusalem. I'm not much of a...dance-going girl, either. I'm pretty much just going because I was asked, and my friends talked me into going as Ally Sheedy in The Breakfast Club."

George grins. "Oh, okay, then I sorta know you by proxy. Angela's in my Journalism class; she was telling me about your costumes." She snorts derisively. "And Marty is going as Bender. What a unique rebel."

Rory laughs. "Yeah, I know - but the pairings work out a lot better that way, since my date's going as Emilio Estevez, and we all kind vaguely resemble the actors, between the hair colors and whatnot," she says, rolling her eyes. "I think I'm the one who's going most as I'm not - grungy insanity isn't exactly my...forte."
