Cally, Death, and Janet had gone. While part of her wants to be alone to rest, it's a small part. The rest of her is glad that Jack is here. It's good to have his company.

She hopes her roommates don't come back too soon, and that Janet gets a full night's sleep. But if they do show up, her roommates (including Lee) or Janet, they won't be unwelcome.

It's about damned time, Beka thinks as his lips brush hers. And yes, she does, as she'd predicted before, burst into flames. There's nothing tentative in the kiss, as gentle as it is.

Her lips part for him, and her mind blanks. Hot, wet, hard kisses. The kind she's been dreaming about since she met Jack. His hand moves behind her head, holding her to him, as if she'd go anywhere now.

Damn. He might feel like a dirty old man for this someday. Right now, he feels about eighteen with an eighteen year-old body and a willing, beautiful Beka in his arms. Damn.

Before he realizes what he's doing, he's cleared her schoolbooks off the bed and drawn her down with him. He can't stop kissing her long enough to ask her if it's OK. He should, he knows. But her mouth is open to him, her skin is hot under his hands. Both things tell his grown-up mind that she wants him too. For once he's grateful for the mismatch between his brain and body.

He breaks the kiss to stroke the hair off her cheek and look at her. "Goodnight?"

Goodnight?

No. No. No. Her body is screaming for him to stay. Not just her body. She wants him to stay with her.

She rakes her teeth over her bottom lip. "No."

"No?" He sounds confused. And gratified.

"Great night." His back his strong, lean under her hand. His body feels right. Maybe she'll finally sleep. "Stay with me?"

"Stay with me?"

He tenses. Not tonight. He wants to do this right. She deserves at least that. She must've seen something in his face, because her expression softened. "We don't have to have sex. I'm just asking if you'd stay with me tonight. I'd sleep better..."

When she gets that tone, the one he's starting to think of as her 'please, Jack?' tone -- which is totally screwed up because he shouldn't know her that well yet -- there's almost nothing he'd deny her.

He should protest. Keep her from getting cocky or manipulative. "Maybe I should just--" But before he gets it out he looks into her eyes again and he can't finish the sentce.

"Yeah. OK."

"Good. I'm tired too. But I don't want you to leave." Mistress of understatement, Valentine.

She leans forward to kiss him again before he can change his mind and run away.

"Get comfy, Colonel." A flicker of something like panic fills his face.

"Beka..."

"Please stay with me."

He's so lost. So he nods and strips down to his boxers, trying not to watch when her shirt comes off over her head, but it's hard not to.

He tries to block out the sight of her, all smoothe skin and firm breasts, and... and Sam would so be kicking his ass if she were here.

"Alright." He lay back on Beka's bed, tucked himself into Beka's covers, and waited for Beka herself to join him.

More for Jack's comfort than her own, Beka left on the black silk panties Lee had brought back from Caprica City for her. Because Jack looked so worried he might maul her, she grabbed a fresh t-shirt from her drawer, then pulled it on over her head.

Tired, eyes already drifting shut, Beka climbed into bed. When Jack's a arm came around her, stiffly at first, but then tighter, like he didn't want her to leave either, she rested her head in the crook of his shoulder. "Night, Colonel."

"Night, beautiful."
