Belthazor knew he shouldn't care, but he did. He hadn't seen Phoebe in any classes all week. He had no idea where she was or how she was. She wasn't, as far as he knew, hiding out in her room ~~(not that he'd called or anything, fully prepared to hang up should she answer -- which she didn't)~~. He shouldn't care, but part of him did. He had done what he'd done to push her out of his head and still she lingered there. It was driving him crazy.

He had to know, at least, if she was okay and that she hadn't run off and done anything rash. Maybe that would relieve some of the guilt he was feeling. He knew she shared her room in the East Attic with Rogue and Kitty. Though he wasn't really acquainted with them, maybe if he headed in the direction of their rooms he might run into them and find out where Phoebe was.

*Paige is just coming out of the North Attic, she sees Belthazor and smiles*

Paige. Hey.

(Well, this sister didn't look like she was going to kill him, at least.)

You haven't, uh, seen Phoebe, have you?

*Paige shakes her head* She's off doing something for the journalism professor I think, which I'm guessing is good news, she must be recovered from the weekend if she's doing something like that

Journalism professor, huh? Maybe I'll have to talk to him....

What happened to her this weekend? And how are you doing -- she told me how you guys realized that you're Piper's and Phoebe's sister. That must've been weird to find out.

*wonders if this one is a witch, too, despite what Piper had said*

*Paige looks shocked* You'd talk to Spider through choice? Bizzare!

*Paige shrugs* We were in the weapons locker, it flooded, zombies came, I think one of them must have bitten her something, I'm not totally sure.

*She smiles* Yeah it was a bit of a shock to find out about them, but the weekend gave us a chance to bond a bit and Piper and I have hung out a bit, so yeah I'm really happy about it all

*shrugs*

Don't know him. I've heard about him, though. What, is he that bad?

*listens to the rest of what Paige says -- okay, she must have no clue what went down between him and Phoebe, or she was a good actress*

Sounds like you guys had fun. Do you have powers like Piper? Does it run in the family or something?

*Paige laughs* Well he's been ok with me, but well he seems a bit unhinged!

*she thinks a moment trying to decide exactly what to tell him about her powers, she shrugs*
Well I don't know the rest of the family so I'm not sure it's a family trait or not, but no I don't have powers like Piper *Paige knows strictly speaking she isn't lying, her powers are totally different to Piper's*

Wow, that has to be doubly weird then. I mean, finding out you have two sisters, and they're witches to boot? You're the youngest, though, right? Maybe you'll get powers when you get older. Does your other sister, Prue, have powers, too? She's still in San Francisco, right?

*Paige smiles* Yeah I'm the youngest, so I guess you're right maybe I'll get powers later. I don't have any sort of issues with them being witches, I mean I went out with Draco right?

*she shrugs* They've not really told me anything about Prue, so I honestly couldn't tell you, sorry *this is the truth*

(Them. Well, that confirmed that Phoebe was a witch. What were the odds that he'd come here and ~~fall in love with~~ get involved with a witch?)

*smiles*

Yeah, anyone who had issues with witches and magic would be insane to come to this place. It's all over. So what kind of power do you want to get? Something like your sisters'?

*Paige eyes Bel cautiously* Has Draco said something?

Was he not supposed to? We do hang out sometimes.

*Paige sighs* No he was pretty much free to say what he wanted, I mean it was pretty obvious right? That's why I started going out with him in the first place, I never really expected him to not tell people about me

You were seeing him before you knew about your sisters, right? Did you feel drawn to magic even before knowing that, then?

*smiles disarmingly*

I know you two broke up, but did you at least get some good lessons out of him?

*Paige smiles* Yeah I was with Draco pretty much as soon as school started *she blushes slightly* I think I was drawn to him more than the magic really.

*she nods* He taught me a lot yeah, how is he?

*cocks his head*

I thought you said you didn't have powers, though.

*chuckles*

He's doing okay. Hard at work on his presidental campaign. He's got some nice posters, huh?

*Paige fakes a look of confusion* I didn't say I had powers did I? Draco just taught me a bit about what he knew about magic, cos I was interested. *she makes a metal note that Draco hasn't told Bel she's a witch*

*She smiles* Yeah I've seen his posters, he has my vote anyway, I know he's a good guy and he seems to know how to get what he wants

*Belthazor was enjoying the dance -- she was suspicious, yes, but she'd already confirmed Phoebe was a witch, and given her own magical inclinations...he'd have to check with Draco. Witchcraft was often hereditary, so there was a good chance the eldest sister was a witch, too.*

I'm sure he'd be happy to know that. It's good that you two aren't all bitter. Breakups can be nasty, all sorts of unpleasant things said in anger and all that. It's hard on friends, too.

*Paige shrugs* No everything's fine between us, he took it really well when I broke up with him, there were no harsh words. He's a really sweet guy, things just changed

Yeah, he's a good kid.

Listen, if you see Phoebe, please don't tell her I was looking for her, okay?

*gives Paige his best smile*

Hey, did you manage to get your job back? I heard Spike fired you the other night.

*Paige smiles* Oh yeah everything's cool there, guess he's a little more touchy about his poetry than I realised.

So I gather. He didn't seem to like me much, but I've got better things to do than get into pissing matches with a vampire.

*Paige raises an eyebrow slightly* Yeah I got that impression

*shrugs*

I dunno. Looks like he's taking out his hostility on Angelus on me or something. Whatever. Like I said, better things to do. I don't have time for those kind of games.

*Paige shrugs* I'd prefer not to get involved really. Angelus seems ok though, he was pretty keen to help me get my job back

Well, you know, so would I, but.... Oh well. You just watch yourself, okay? Vampires can be pretty unpredictable, and I know Piper and Phoebe would hate to see you get hurt.

*Paige smiles* Yeah I know Angelus explained the deal to me, which I was pretty suprised by since, well he's a vampire too

*nods*

Well, I better get to class. See you around. And, um, be careful with that magic stuff. It can be dangerous, too. More than you might know.

Janet was wandering down the hallway, her nose buried in a book, when she accidentally bumped into someone. "Ow!" she exclaimed. She looked up...and up... and saw someone she hadn't yet met.

"Sorry about that," she said. "I'm distracted."

OOC: Oh, God, let's save each other from work! ;)

Belthazor checked out the girl who had run into him. He thought he'd seen her around in the halls, but they'd never met. "It's okay," he said with a charming smile. "I'm a little distracted, too. I'm Belthazor, by the way."

"Janet Fraiser," she said, grinning and closing her book up. "And is it me, or is entirely too early in the morning to be awake? I'm not normally a klutz like that, but we ran out of coffee in my room."

"Way too early," he agreed. "You on your way to class? What are you reading that's so interesting?"

"To the library, actually," she said. "I get class credit for working there." Janet held up her book. The cover was green and black with a slightly disorienting design on it. "An Introduction to Genetic Engineering," she said. "I'm kind of a geek." Her grin was cheerful and she didn't look in the least bit ashamed of it. "What's dragging you out of bed at this disgusting hour?"

"Genetics, huh? That's way over my head," he admitted, peering at the book. "I'm barely passing bio as it is, I think. History's more my thing. And dead languages. And in answer to your question, ~~I'm stalking my ex-girlfriend~~ I have a polysci class in a bit."

"To each their own is a cliche for a reason, I guess," said Janet, slipping the book into her backpack. "Bio's a little too easy, but I didn't sign up in time for it during either of the enrollments, so I'm doing more of a self-study kind of thing. So, history and dead languages, huh? Are you taking any classes from Dr. Jackson? You'd probably like him. He knows all kinds of dead languages."

He shook his head. "No, I saw his classes posted, but it was after I had already registered for mine. I'm really good at Latin, and I know some others, too. So I'll see what he offers next semester." He paused, then continued, "Any good books in that vein in the library? I've heard things about the special collection."

"I'd put money on you liking it," said Janet. "He's an archaeologist, so dusty ~~rocks~~ artifacts and languages are his specialty."

"Books on Latin, you mean?" asked Janet. "Or history in general? The main library's got a lot of stuff. Special Collections has practically everything else, but it's kind of a crazy place. Also, access tends to be restricted, though you can check a book out of there if it's not labelled dangerous." Janet squinted for a minute, like she was trying to remember something. "Who was it? Like that girl Piper? She was looking for books on cooking, and believe it or not, we found one in there for her. Who ever would have thought cookbooks would be in Special Collections?"

"Must be some special kind of cooking," Belthazor said. Interesting....potion making, maybe? "So what does somebody have to do to get access to the Special Collections? I'd like to take a look at it some day if I could. I like weird rare history books. My foster dad's got a lot of those that I used to read."

[OOC: Have to run to meeting, but will be back in an hour or so.]

Janet shrugged. "I haven't the faintest idea what kind of cooking it was. Actually, I should look up her number. She promised me cooking lessons in exchange for math tutoring." She shifted her backpack. "If you're not looking for something for a professor that you're working for? Figure out what books you want and then hope the librarian's in a good mood that day."

Janet grinned ruefully. "He's very rarely in a good mood, but you could try bribing him with coffee. He's an addict."

Belthazor grinned. "Thanks for the tip. The power of caffeine is not to be underestimated. I can probably even get my hands on some good stuff he's never tried before."

"Wait, new caffeine?" Janet perked up. "That sounds disturbingly fun."

OOC: Darn you and your evil ways! ;)

He chuckled. "I'll have to see what I can come up with then. We've got some rather unique blends back home."

[OOC: Mmmm, demon coffee! ;) ]

"Where are you from, anyway?" asked Janet curiously. "Someplace normal, or one of the stranger worlds? I always wonder, given that we have about the most diverse student body ever."

"One of the, ah, stranger ones," he admitted. "It doesn't really have much of a name. We call it the Underworld on account of it being, well, underground." He made a face. "Not a very exciting place, actually."
