Fellow Students and Esteemed Professors:

I hereby declare my candidacy for the position of Academic Affairs Coordinator, the job of which is to act on various committees, disciplinary, budgetary, and planning, for issues impacting students academic lives, and further to plan events benefiting the student body as a whole. Additionally, the Academic Affairs Coordinator is to act as a liaison between staff and students on matters of general concern.

My qualifications for this position include:

- a near perfect attendance record for all officially registered courses
- perfect or higher scores on all recorded homework and classroom assignments
- strong, professional and personal relationships with the academic staff
- a record for speaking out on student concerns without fear of repercussion
- a demonstrated willingness to learn from errors
- a history of caring about and protecting the interests of my fellow students

This letter should not be construed as a campaign statement, but rather a declaration of intent, as well as an invitation to engage me on matters of interest.

This letter should also be construed as a request for endorsements from those of the staff and students who believe they can provide candid and appropriate statements regarding my qualifications or competence.

Thanks, Paige, I appreciate it. It seems Jonathon Crane is running as a write-in. So, I thought I'd best step up and see if I could get a few people to speak to my qualifications.

So if I just say something about how your generally all round brilliant, sorted out my love life and bought me homecoming tickets cos I'm poor that'd be ok yeah?

Well, you're clearly concerned about the well-being of the student body, and you've tried to help us in every way you could, whether it be defending us from zombies or speaking to Principal Connor on our behalf.

...how was that?

"Hey. That's really pretty awesome, considering we haven't met properly." Beka's quite surprised, and very pleased. To cover her fluster, she puts out her hand. "Beka Valentine, obviously."

*grins broadly and shakes her hand* Zero Hopeless-Savage. I've been hanging out at Parker's campaign meetings.

*can't help grinning back* So, you go by Zero? I've seen you around. This is just the first opportunity we've had to talk.

*rolls eyes* Mostly. My first name's Skank, actually, an' a few people call me that. An' Parker's been callin' me Swerval. I answer to just about anything.

*hides grinding of teeth at mention of Parker who is giving her a headache* Uh, in my world, Skank means something not good. You seem like a nice person, so, unless you prefer it, I'll call you Zero. Or whatever else works for you.

It means something not good in my world, too, but my parents are a bit...not mainstream. Zero's swerval. Most people prefer to not call me Skank, 'cept a few members of my family.

Zero it is, then. Because it just seems wrong to call a new friend a ... yeah. So, I was asking Angela, and let me ask you, too. Do you have concerns about the academic life here?

Well, I'm concerned that the teachers keep disappearin'. And that, because of that, we have a severely unbalanced curriculum. D'you realize there's no math or English bein' taught, but martial arts and sociology are? We can't graduate with full loads of electives!

Interesting. That was one of Angela's big concerns too. I agree that's a real problem. Especially because we're in danger of not having enough credits or missing grades if teachers don't show up.

*as an afterthought*

Sociology's pretty important though. Understanding other people always is.

Oh, well, yeah, no doubt. It's just that it doesn't exactly count as a core class, y'know?

Yeah. I do. *smiles* So, don't take this wrong, I'm just trying to figure out who's who around here, since it's hopefully going to be my job to know. Tell me about yourself?

Oh, well, I'm from Flange City, which is...we don' have any spaceships or vampires or anything like a lot of the stuff here. My parents are, um, musicians. Punk rockers? You might not know what that means. I've got a boyfriend, Ginger, but he goes to MIT. I'm in a band, back home, the Dusted Bunnies...lead guitar an' singin'. Let's see. I want to go to film school because the music biz is scary...I think that's about it.

*Beka whips out a notepad and a pen*

Angela is a bit discombobulated by Beka's focus, and she chews on the edge of her thumbnail for a moment before answering.

"Um ... zombies. And the fact teachers keep disappearing. And the chef. He scares me." And Angelus, she thinks. "Oh, and thank you. You were easy to write about."

Beka notes the girl's nerves, and, after jotting down the list, she adjusts her manner appropriately. "Hey, sorry." She grins ruefully. "I didn't mean to put you on the spot. You just seem... well, you seem like someone who would've given some thought to the way things are," waves her hand, "around here."

She smiles. "Zombies, check. Chef, yeah. I stay away from there. Not sure how much I can do about the first two, as a candidate anyway. As a person, well, you've seen me. If anything does go weird, I'll be charging over and generally making an ass of myself." Another wry smile and a laugh, before Beka slides back into serious mode.

She bites her lip. "Disappearing teachers... that is a real concern. We're required to take a set number of credits, but if a teacher disappears after drop-add, then there's a big hassle to get everything fixed. I'll look into that."

Angela rolls her eyes slightly. "I give everything way too much thought. The only thing is, sometimes I think about things until they don't make sense to anyone any more. Even me."

She smiles. "Anyhow ... I agree that the teachers are the worst part. It's scary if you've gotten to like a teacher and then he or she is just gone, plus we all end up scrambling to keep enough credits."

Beka considers what Angela's telling her and decides the personal stuff is more important right now. "I don't know that you can think too much." Then she waves a hand as if to shake that off. "I mean, you can. You can chase your tail. But being observant, thinking about the world, that's important. It could save your life, too."

Oh sure... you get a profile.

I get an obituary.

Somehow this does not seem fair.

Quit pouting. You're cute when you pout. It makes me want to kiss you, and I know you hate it when I do that in public.

Okay, I'm now at the point where I demand proof.

I seriously don't remember being there for that.

Beka steps closer to him, puts her hand behind his head, and kisses him quite thoroughly, then backs away smirking.

(OOC: If you don't want her to kiss him, we can strike this and she can make some peevish response, but this seemed funnier.)

I obviously didn't think much of it one way or another, since I don't remember it happening. But if it makes you feel better to have kissed me... whatever.

Beka sighs patiently. "It's not that you didn't think much of it. It's that it blew your mind utterly. I'll just have to tone it down a little next time."

[OOC: It's pretty funny to think of these two kissing, actually. I can see them falling into bed together in the middle of some bitch-fight, or with Jack, but kissing is awfully friendly. That's why it was funny that she did it just now. You did see that, right? Or are you on one of those weird connections that blanks formatted text?]

Um... no... I've had my mind (and various other body parts) blown before. That was just... unremarkable.

And if you don't quit doing that to every guy on campus you're going to get elected something and it won't be Homecoming Queen. Though the words 'student' and 'affairs' will figure prominently.

It's OK. I know you can't admit that you might actually be jealous of the other guys who get to fuck me, but just know that really, it's all meaningless. Just bodies. You, I love.

Besides, I met a really sweet girl today. She's heading over to my dorm room now so I can teach her how to play Sims.

*shakes her head*

No. I don't think you'd get laid just for the asking. It's not that you're not attractive. It's just that I love you too much. I couldn't. It'd scare me to have sex with you. We'd feel too much.
