Because Connor hasn't really met people...
Connor is in the third floor commons room writing furiously in a battered old notebook, or looking out at the sky beyond the windows, staring as if in a trance as the song he's trying to write rolls around in his head. There is occassionally a low, gutteral mumbling, which can be generalised to say "Murphy is a better songwriter than he is" but includes a few colorful cuss words. In Gaelic.
There is a pizza box on the table in front of him. He might share, if anyone wants to stop and visit.
[OOC: Connor's mun must away for a bit. Will be back shortly Back!]

Skank.
I don' always go by Zero. Like, my sister calls me Skankabelle. But most people, for some reason, aren't comfortable callin' me by my first name.

That's the whole point! My name is Skank Zero, you think my parents didn' know what they were doin' when they squallin' named me! I mean, come on! *sigh* They're punks, y'know? Same thing as hippies namin' their kids friggin' Sunshine or whatever.

"Hey." He smiles in greeting.

"Hi. I'm Lily. I've seen you around - I think we're in music classes together. I'm not bothering you am I? I don't want to disturb you or anything. I can leave if you'd rather be alone?"
no subject
"Nah. I'm...good. Yeah. I'm in the music classes. I'm Connor." He leaned forward to offer his hand.

"Thanks. Nice to meet you, Connor. What are you working on there?"

I wrote a song for you today
Because there's just so much I want to say
It comes out all jumbled and wrong
I've held it inside too long
You're as beautiful as a summer flower
When I'm with you I feel the power
Of your heart beating so wild and true
I'm writing this just for you

"I think that's beautiful. You've really got a gift for that. I've never been able to do lyrics..."
no subject
"Anyway. How's it going? You look like you've got something on your mind."

Lily takes a few bites of her pizza.
"Do I? It's nothing, really. Just a bit lonely, I guess. This school gets weirder by the day and I haven't quite found out where I fit yet. And my friend Remus just transferred away, and he was the last of my friends from home... so. Yeah." She shrugs.

"Good. I mean, not good that you're having trouble, but good to know I'm not the only one, I guess. That definitely came out wrong!" She sighs.
Where are you and Murphy from, Connor?"

"Yeah, there does seem to be a lot of that... supernatural stuff around here." Lily points to the guitar. "How long have you played?"

"I'm a witch - I can do charms and spells and things with the aid of my wand." She raises both hands, opened in front of her to show she doesn't have her wand. "I'm... 'normal' without it, though. And I actually haven't had much cause to use it here. My last school was a boarding school for learning magic."

other than ma. Don't worry, I won't hold it against you as long as you don't turn me into a frog or something."no subject
"I wasn't trying to hide it from you, specifically; I just can't ever be sure of the reaction that I'll get. You're definitely taking it better than most. And we go to school to learn how to use our magic to help others, so unless you want to be a frog someday, you won't have to worry about that!"

"Oh, I have to go - I've got a shift at the clinic tonight. It was really nice meeting you, Connor. Now I won't be afraid to say hullo next time I see you in class."
She smile apologetically as she gathers her things to leave.
"Good luck with those lyrics!"
