In the Hallway

Maia walks along, ball of yarn with the knitting needles sticking out and a long piece of knotted purple yarn. I cannot knit to save my life.. maybe this will pass for I dunno, my imitation of a yarn rope or something

Maia swings her 'yarn rope' behind her as she walks.

Beka looks pained. "Would you believe I don't know for sure? FH time confuses me. Every time I get on my ship I gain/lose days.

"So, should I do something with that? Make up a flyer, find someone to ask me? Save it for tonight?

"Also, I don't want to mess with Phoebe's chances to win this election. Is it going to cause a problem for her, do you think, if I am candid at tonight's debate?" Beka is deadly earnest. Truth matters now. More than anything.

"Clown isn't me generally. Snarky, self-effacing, wry, yes. But a sense of humor isn't my strongest suit. As for Angelus, well..." She considers.

"Two things there. One, he's not my lover. We had a power-dominance fuck, partly out of gratitude for mutual rescue from the weapons-ban debate. Partly as a show of trust and lack of fear. Partly to prove to each other we would. The likelihood of it ever happening again? Virtually nil. And that's the truth.

"Two, if it comes up, I'll tell people who I chose to screw is my business, but they ought to consider that if I can screw a vampire, I can probably work with one. I'm not going to address it unless it comes up, because frankly, it isn't anyone's business but mine and Angelus's and whatever he is, I respect him enough not to make him a campaign point."

She shakes her head. "Sorry. I'm not trying to be sharp with you. I'm furious with Parker. She had no business making it an issue. None. And what she did to Bel... if I could prove it... I'd fry her. Do we have proof?"

Beka squeezes Maia's hand. "Thanks. I'm prepared as I can be for that one. I need to focus on some other stuff that's going to come my way. Our way." She smiles wryly.

"Paige never clarified for me whether witches are technically human or not. I'm human, only slightly modified genetically." She shakes out her hair to change the color to silver and then back. "During the weapons ban debate, I said some stuff that people took very wrong. I know it's coming back at me.

"I think we need to be prepared to handle questions about prejudice, since we talk so much about diversity. Humans are a persecuted minority on my world. I'll have to try to make people see that I understand. Even though I'm in the majority here...I never see myself that way.

"There's other stuff too...weapons stuff, and so on. Gah. I need time to think."
