In the third floor common room

After the yearbook meeting lets out, Rory wanders out into the common room, Anna Karenina in hand.

She flops down on the couch, opening her book and absently channel-surfing. She stares sullenly at the wall, though, ignoring both her open book and the television.

[ooc: Because these posts are fun for me, and I'm bored as all hell and totally not procrastinating on working on a midterm paper. Nope.]

"Nothing much, really. I'm kinda-avoiding Sakura, because I don't know what to say to her when I see her again and I'm such a moron about it, so I figured now would be a good time to search around for that last missing book."

"Ah," Rory says in a somewhat melodramatic, world-weary voice. "Lady troubles. Why do we let silly, stupid things bother us when it comes to stuff like this? You should go talk to her, because whatever you did can't be that bad."

"I know I should." Edward made a face, mostly at himself. "But, it's late. And she's undoubtedly in bed, and really I'm afraid of going near her room. What if that little bear thing has rabies or something and decides to bite me? Also, I'm a big fucking coward when it comes to girls."

"She has a little bear thing? Cool! I want a vampire puppy," Rory says, perking up a little. "And maybe you should talk to her tomorrow. Or call her. The longer you wait, the worse it'll be.]

"A vampire... puppy..." Edward repeats, completely confused by the mental imagery. "How would that even work?" He shakes his head a few times. "I'll probably call her tomorrow, or leave her a message or something. I'm ... not very socially adept."

Rory nods. "Well, don't avoid her. And don't just leave her standing there while you go off any make out with some random guy and then leave without saying goodbye. 'Cause that's just mean," she says. She realizes she may have said too much, and blushes.

He rolls his eyes. "I don't think she has to worry about that," Edward said. "I mean, hello. Guys. Two "a" tabs, there."

Then Edward notices the blush. "What?"

"Nothing. Nevermind. My boyfriend didn't do any of that. Forget I said anything," Rory stammers.

Edward rewinds the conversation in his mind. "Wait... your boyfriend ran off and made out with another guy? Really?"

"You want me to break both of his kneecaps for you? No charge."

Rory laughs. "It was a dare - the making out part, anyway. The leaving me at a party and not calling me? That was all him. And nah, thanks. I'm exacting my own revenge tomorrow. Totally not happening in study hall. Nope. Definitely not."

"Oh. Ooooo. I get the feeling it's gonna suck to be him, tomorrow. It's not going to involve any wrenches to the head, is it? I have a mortal fear of wrenches. Otherwise I will probably come to not-watch."

"Nah, more of a...poetic justice thing. Me, and girl!Jake getting our mack on in front of Logan and Krycek, specifically."

"Can't wait to see it, then. It's nice to be on the sidelines for the revenge thing once in a while."

"Yeah, normally, revenge? Not my thing. But my kissing partner friend kind of talked me into it."

"Ah, but revenge is the best part of social interaction. Especially when you bring people to their knees." Edward grins, although it's rather sharkish.

Rory arches a brow. "See, this is why I got elected," she sighs. "Because I'm nice - too nice, usually - and I don't want to bring people to their knees. I don't get revenge. Except this time, because it's too funny to not do it."

Edward shrugged. "I don't do the politics thing, really - mainly because I'm not allowed near important people by virtue of hitting them until they agree with me - so I'll have to take your word on that. And you can be a nice person and still get your revenge. You just... get other people to do your dirty work for you."

Rory smiles. "Hmm. I should have a team of hitmen not led by Marty omg to do my bidding if a particular student doesn't want to relate."

"See! There ya go. A revenge hitman squad. Only you better not let that big blue bug teacher dude get wind of it. Or, even better, get him in on it by telling him that "x" person is an evildoer." Edward is vastly amused by this idea, and starts snickering.

"Hey, that's my boss you're talking about there," Rory says, smiling and waving a finger. "I'm his sidekick-slash-TA, after all."

"Exactly!" Edward was almost rolling on the floor with mirth now. "He'd NEVER suspect that you, his trusted sidekick, would be heading a secret mafiaesque hitman squad!"

Rory strokes her chin thoughtfully, almost missing her fake facial hair, because it would give her a goatee to stroke deviously. "Hmm. It does have possibilities...and no one would suspect it of me, because, frankly, I don't look like I'd have my own Gilmore Mafia."

Edward snorted, managing to contain his snickers. "That is it exactly. No one suspects the quiet ones, or the nice ones."

"And I'm both quiet and nice," she muses. "This has some definite potential."

"You'll have to let me know how that works out," Edward said, getting up and stretching his arms over his head. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I've gotta go crash before I fall asleep in the middle of this conversation."
