South Attic: Sunday morning

After a night spent on the Maru to try to regroup from detention, Beka returned to South Attic. When studying failed to be productive, she recorded a highly encrypted personal log.

Detention sucks. I got the first one by accident. The Dean said I couldn't get any more if I wanted to stay on Council. Drusilla wouldn't believe I was sorry, even though I was. That made me upset, and then I was stupid. I still don't think I deserved the detention for chatting with Cally. All I said to Cally was 'thanks' and 'go sit with Anders' pretty much.

It's a second detention, so off Student Council I go. Whatever. I'm not going to protest. I shouldn't have been on Student Council anyway. It's not like I'm a model for student behavior. Still. Now I see why Angelus was so mad about detention. JA's looking better every day.

Not looking forward to facing the Dean. Maybe I'll just send in a resignation. Phoebe will be upset, but... I can protect her better from the shadows.

Oh. Right. I have to debate the ethics of murder. Against Angelus, Parker, and Pheebs. With...wait for it. My ex, and my not!boyfriend. *sound of a long drawn out sigh* This is going to be a great week.

Finished recording, Beka stared at the comm like a poisonous pitsnake. Did I really just whine into my logs? "Maru-mani, delete last entry," she snapped. "Confirm."

There came a string of annoying chirps, then the Maru's computer responded, Supplemental log deleted.

Satisfied, Beka stripped down and changed into jogging pants and a tank. Crunches. Crunches were always good. Push-ups too. They'd keep her mind off other things.

[OOC: Beka's open to interaction, she's just emo. There are people she needs to talk to, and today's a good day for me personally to do some of it. The door is warded, but invitations will be issued if necessary. Individual threads can be broadcast, except as specifically noted.]

Hey, Beka... It's me.

Beka wipes the sweat and maybe a few stray tears off her face and goes to the door to let Cally in.

"Hey, you. C'mon in. And make yourself comfy."

::wanders over and sits down on the floor, leaning back against Beka's bed::

I... ::bites her lower lip:: I came to say I'm sorry about yesterday.

Beka sits down on the bed, and leans against the wall, knees tucked up to chest.

"Don't. You didn't do anything. Except try to defend me." Her voice is tight with emotion.

Except, well... I kinda did. If I hadn't shown up, we wouldn't have talked, and we wouldn't have gotten another detention, and that's my fault. ::looks back and up at Beka::

But I'm gonna make up for it, honest.

"Listen. We didn't talk that much. I said what? Two sentences to you? It's not your fault." Beka shrugs. "I'm only upset because the Dean's going to lecture me then throw me off Council. And I'm not upset with you."

She looks down at Cally. "You don't have anything to make up for."

::shuts her eyes, and pinches the bridge of her nose::

You could get kicked off the Student Council for this? That's totally it. I don't care if I get myself in further trouble, but I'm talking to the Dean. We didn't do hardly much of anything, and just cause the Professor was being all weird and mean doesn't mean... ::clenches her fist, and then just drops her arm by her side::

G'uh. It's just not fair.

Beka scoots forward to the edge of the bed to set her hand by Cally's shoulder.

"Listen. It's a fluke that I'm on Council anyway. It's probably for the best ~~because then I can protect my friends and not worry so much about detentions I might get~~." Her voice takes on a concerned tone. "Don't do anything else on my account. You getting in more trouble doesn't help either of us."

::looks up at Beka::

I'm gonna do this for me, really. And I shouldn't get into more trouble, right? I'll just be asking for them to reconsider how pointless it is for us to get detention for talking, when were there for... how long? ::reaches up and puts her hand on Beka's, and sighs::

But thanks. I kinda needed that.

Beka squeezes Cally's hand. "Come on up here? Easier to talk when I can see your eyes." When she releases her hand, Beka pats the bed, but keeps talking. "The Dean... I don't know. He seems very unsympathetic."

::shifts up and sits down next to Beka::

Well, I haven't really met with him, so, I just sorta hoped he'd see reason.

::smiles::

Besides, who could possibly be unsympathetic to me?

"Thanks. Felt weird talking to the floor." Beka smiles.

"Hard to imagine anyone being unsympathetic to the cutest, best friend ever, I know. But... I don't know. Maybe it'd be better just to take the detention and get it over with? I doubt we'd have Drusilla again, and that's something..."

Alright, you've talked me out of it. And this time I'll just be extra careful to only give non-verbal support. ::nods, smiling::

And geeze... ::nudges Beka in the arm:: cutest, huh? You're not trying to chat me up, are you? ::smirks::

Beka smiles, softly. "Not chatting you up, no. Just trying to... I... It meant a lot to me, what you did. Coming in there. Even though you came for Anders. You stood up for me. Not many people would do that."

::shrugs::

I came for my friends. And I stand up for my friends, no matter what. ::smiles, and puts her arm around Beka::

Otherwise, why bother bein' friends?

"Like I said. Not many people would do that." Beka inclines her head against Cally's. "I'd do it for you, too. You know that. Right?"

Never doubted it for a second. ::smiles again::

Pinky-Swear buddies stick together forever. It's a rule.

"Thanks, Cally." She smiles, a little sadly. "I like your rules."

Hey, I like 'em too. Otherwise why else have them as rules? ::rubs Beka's shoulder with her thumb::

So, what've you got going on today, then?

Beka stretches her neck down and forward, rolling her head to release some of the tension.

"Not much. I figure I've probably got to email the Dean." A look of distress flickers over her features. "I need to talk to Shep and Cam about the debate thing, too. And my Journalism project."

She sighs. "Probably going for a walk, getting something to eat, and doing some homework. You?"

Nothin' at all. I got to write something up for Quantum Physics, and that's all, so, if you want to, I dunno, hang out and commiserate over our sorrows with ice cream and chocolate or something, I'm totally up for it. ::smile::

Beka cocks her head, smiles. "Ya know? That sounds great. Where should we go?"

You know, I have absolutely no idea, actually? I've been in town only a few times, and places always seem to be closed on me.

"Maybe we can go to Deb's. I think it's open now?"

Sure. ::shrugs:: Like I said, nothin' better to do, really.

Beka pokes Cally. "Hey, I don't think I like being 'nothing better'. Sure you don't want to go find... Anders?" She snickers.

::sticks out her tongue::

I didn't mean it like that. And as far as Anders... I'm trying to get used to not bein' around him... cause he says he's gonna be pretty busy for a while. ::shrugs::

"Awww. Really? I'm sorry. I know you were getting kinda friendly..." Beka hugs Cally, then stands. "C'mon, then. Sounds like we could both use some ice cream or pie or something."

Oh, he just figures he's gonna be doing a lot of Pyramid training. I'm, uhh... ::blush:: still his personal hugging and kissing trainer, actually.

But yeah, off we go. Pie solves almost every problem.

Beka arched an eyebrow. "We'll have to talk about that over pie."
