3rd Floor Common Room

Draco is sprawled out on a couch. The TV is on and he's watching Cape Fear (the one with De Niro). He looks confused. Like he's not sure if this was fiction or not. If it was non-fiction he'd have to warn the Dark Lord about this Max guy.

When the movie goes on commercial break he thinks about maybe going upstairs to talk to Lily. But he didn't get up. He wanted to be with her, but he still felt guilty about Thursday. He wasn't going to tell her obviously. But when he was around her he had the bad habit of telling the truth.

The movie came back on and with a wave of his wand a bowl of popcorn appeared before him.

((He'll be there for most of the afternoon. Cape Fear really is on. I love this movie. Argh. Mun. cannot. open. her. fruit. rollup!))

Lily wanders by in the hallway and is surprised to see Draco there. She can't decide whether or not to approach him.

Draco turns his head in time to see Lily in the hallway. He sits up, a little nervous. He tries to act as calm as possible. He puts on what he considers a charming smile.

"Hey Lily, come in here. Maybe you can help me understand this whole TV concept. And I've got popcorn."

Lily silently curses at herself for not walking away sooner. She smiles weakly and slowly walks over to the couch. She sits down a safe distance from him and mutters, "Hullo. Um, what's on?"

Draco notices Lily was sitting farther away from him than she did on Wednesday. He holds out the bowl of popcorn.

"I think it's called Cape Fear. I'm sort of confused. Is this real or fake? If it's real won't the people notice that muggle moving picture...thing around all the time? This Max guy beat this girl up and the person holding the uh, moving picture thing did nothing!"

Lily reaches out and takes a handful of popcorn from the bowl. "Thanks."

She eats a few pieces before responding. "It's fake, of course. Television shows, and movies - this looks like a movie being shown on television - are a primary source of entertainment for muggles. They make up stories and, you know, act them out, and then people watch them for fun. So, he didn't really beat her up, it was all for show. There's a movie theater in town, where the screen is bigger."

"Thank Merlin it was fake. I was about to have a heart attack." he says "It's seemed pretty real."

"A movie theater eh? Well, we should go one of these days. It's been kind of weird trying to figure out what muggles do for fun. I was going to break out some wizard's chess but I didn't want to scare anybody."

Lily relaxed a little when she heard him say 'we' - maybe she was just over-reacting after all. "Well seeming real is the point, I suppose. I think muggles use it as a bit of an escape from reality."

She pauses. "I don't think wizard chess would scare anyone around here - after zombies and gremlins and all."

"You do have a point. Zombies are a rare thing even in the Wizarding World."

He paused for a moment. "I'm sorry for not being around the last few days. I was going through a weird uh, thing. But it's all cleared up now."

Lily watched the television for a full minute before answering. "Oh, I, uh, hadn't noticed - I've been busy, too."

After another minute, she looked at Draco, and said, "That's completely a lie. I've been using every waking moment to obsessively worry about what I could have done wrong." She offered an apologetic smile.

He gave Lily a smile and moved closer to her.

"You did nothing wrong. Trust me." he said "I can't even think of a way that you could do anything wrong."

"Well, except for refusing to see me. That would make me sad." he said giving her a puppy dog look.

"You're not just saying that?" she says, still the tiniest but unsure.

"Of course I'm not." he says. He gives her a kiss on the cheek.

"I hope you feel the same way." he says softly

"I do like you a lot," she answers, moving closer to rest her head on his shoulder.

Draco moves his hand so it's resting on Lily's knee. He tries to act like he's not scared by the scarier parts of the movie but when Robert De Niro kills Joe Don Baker with piano wire he can't help but jump and squeeze her knee a little.

"Sorry." he says a little embarassed.

Being ticklish, Lily jumps when he squeezes her knee. She puts her hand on top of his. "It's all fake," she reassures softly. "Even that."

"Y-yeah. Just wasn't expecting it." he says He takes her hand and intertwines his fingers with hers.
"Your hands are soft."

((You kidding me? Piano wire is going to be Death Eater standard issue now.))

Lily squeezes his hand in response, inching closer so her leg is flush with his.

Draco leans over to kiss the spot on Lily's neck where her jawline meets the ear.

"Mmmmm," she mumbles incoherently, relaxing into his touch.

Draco leaned into Lily and turned her face towards him. He goes to kiss her softly on the lips.

Lily kisses him for a few moments before remembering their surroundings.

"We're in the common room - people could go by at any time!" she says, embarrassed already even though nobody was currently around.

"You're right. Don't want to be giving anybody a free show." he says with a mischevious smile.

"You wanna go somewhere else?" he asked.

Lily laughs, her cheeks still burning. "Now? Before the movie's even over?"

"Why not? I'm sure good triumphs over evil and all that. You know how everyone loves a happy ending." he says "Besides, I think you are much more interesting."

((Mun's going to go get something to eat. I'll be back soon.))

"Mmm... happy endings - quite unrealistic most of the time."

"You do, do you?" she says, raising an eyebrow. "Where did you have in mind?"

"Well, we are on my floor. And my room is just down the hall. And I think the roomie is out and about today." he says in a completely innocent tone.
