Room #142 - Parent's Weekend Refuge

Tara's door is wide open. Laid out on the dining room table are fairy bread, blueberry muffins, three different colours of play dough, a pile of white t-shirts and some fabric paint.

She is puttering around the kitchen, readying ingredients for omlettes.

Maia broke into a huge grin totally fascinated by the new event with the playdough. She tore a little piece and smashed it back together. She smiled at Lana pleased that she in fact could squish it back together just as good as Lana.

Maia frowned. "I think that Dr. Wilson was right and that tree took your memory of him. Its ok Lana. If you see him and don't remember him. I'll explain to him what happened and I am sure he will understand I mean he must be a really nice guy if you loved him."

Maia rolled her playdough into a ball and then tore it in have and smashed it back together several times in a row. "It just keeps doing it huh? Never loses it squish together ability." Maia smiled and tore it again and smashed it together. "What's silly putty? Is it playdough to?"

"I hope he was," Lana whispered. "Any way..." she took a deep breath, "Silly Putty is stretchy and if you roll it out and put it onto newspaper it will pick up the picture or words. Then you can stretch it out and make it all look funny."

Maia looked down at the playdough. "Does playdough do that too?" She thought for a moment "Wouldnt that make it all dirty I mean newsprint gets all over your hands and stuff." Maia touched the smooth surface of her blue playdough. "I don't think I would want to make it dirty looking."

Maia turned her attention to Lana again. "I think he was." she nodded.

Maia bit her lip and looked at Lana after she proceeded to smash another torn ball together seamlessly "You don't well you don't think I'm dumb do you? about the playdough" Maia blushed feeling totally dumb for being upset over the torn playdough earlier.

"No, it really didn't get dirty - it was kind of like magic that way. And no, I don't think you're dumb about the playdough. You didn't know it could go right back together."

Lana couldn't seem to stop playing with the small piece of play dough she held. "I need to stop thinking about this, I'm making myself crazy."

Maia smiled. "Tara knows magic, I bet that's why she has this playdough." Maia grinned wider. "I bet she has silly putty to." Maia leaned forward "She's magical you know?"

Maia frowned slightly at the small piece of playdough in Lana's hand. She broke off a piece of the square she was now forming and pushed it onto Lana's piece to make it bigger. "Yes it can do that, but I dunno maybe if you think about it and talk about it your memory will come back." She smiled

Maia took one of the cookie cutters that was laying next to Stark and produced a heart shaped playdough. "Its like cookie dough almost." Maia cut the heart up and formed it again.

Lana glanced over at Tara. "I really don't know her, other than seeing her working with you at the clinic, but she seems very nice."

She smiles at the extra piece of playdough Maia gave her and added it in. "Well, maybe I won't try and block it all out just yet. I wonder where he went, if he'll ever come back..."

Maia cut out three hearts and laid them out in front of her smiling down at them satisfied. She took a pen cap and pushed it down making circle designs into the hearts.

"I think that is the best thing to do. When I first woke up I didn't well I didn't remember Sara and I breaking up but then I remembered it later and it didn't hurt as bad because it was like dealing with it a third time because we did it once, then I didn't remember so well, we kinda talked and it felt like we did it again. So then when I remembered" Maia stabbed little tiny holes with the ball point into the hearts now. "It was not so bad." She smiled up at Lana in a sad kind of way "Maybe that is how it will be with you and Archie, maybe you will see him and it will all come back to you and it will be ok or you'll break up and you'll still be ok because you won't remember."

Maia finished the design. "Can we keep it this way?" She said smiling down at her three hearts.

Lana smiled, "So, either way, I'm okay, huh?" She took a deep breath. "Okay then. We'll just let it lie and see what happens."

She looked at Maia's heart design and smiled, "I'm sure you can leave it like that. Here," She took the piece of play dough that she'd rolled into a thin snake and made it into a heart. "We can add this one in, too."

[identity profile] maias-notebook.livejournal.com 2005-10-30 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
Maia grinned down at the snake heart and laid her one of her hearts inside it. "Do we bake it like a cookie?"

[identity profile] lovelylana.livejournal.com 2005-10-30 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
"No, hon, you don't bake it - though there are some kinds of stuff like this that you can bake. You just leave it." Lana looked at her watch, "Oh my, I better head back. Lex should be done with his meeting soon." She gave Maia a hug. "It was great playing with the play dough with you. I'll catch you up tomorrow, okay?" She hugged Maia again and headed out of the room.

Maia returned the hug and stared down at her little hearts and Lana's snake heart. She grinned at it and decided to pick another color to play with. She hummed to herself as she found a new cookie cutter of a gingerbread man, she had fun designing eyes and buttons for them with the ball point pen.
