Third Floor Common Room

Draco is in the common room next to the fire place. He takes some glittery looking powder out of a bag and tosses it into the fire.

"Narcissa Malfoy" he says into it. He wonders how a student would react if they saw him doing this. He wondered how someone would react if they saw his mother's head in a fire place too. Not that he cared. He was tired of dealing with these muggle phones anyway. This was so much easier and you didn't have to pay a monthly bill.

"She went to Hogwarts! Delightful. What house?--" and before he can answer, "Slytherin of course, I can see it in your face. What a catch. Her last name?"

Draco let out a groan. He either had to tell his mother Lily's last name and have her freak out or run out of the room screaming.

"Uh...ok, don't freak out. She was in Gryffindor and you won't know her last name because...yeah." he trailed off. For some reason the words muggle born and mudblood were erased from his vocabulary right now. He pretended to be interested in the common room's carpet.

Narcissa pursed her lips and saw through the ruse at once. But had a plan. In a very sweet mothering tone, "Draco, darling, how about I pop into town sometime soon and have dinner with you and your young lady friend. I would so love to meet her."

"I-I'm not so sure that's a good idea Mother. I mean, she's kind of um, busy. And I'm sure you've got things to do." he said "I'm not ashamed of her or anything it's just...busy doing stuff."

"And like I said before. It's nothing. Shouldn't have even mentioned it. Because it's nothing. Don't kill my girlfriend, we haven't even done it yet!"
