Second Floor common room

After the Into the Black meeting, Rogue drops into the second floor common room couch. She sighs and starts flipping through channels; the disappearance and rumored murder of Kitty has her very down.

She looks like she wouldn't mind company.

[[Come play with me! And if anyone wants to interrogate Rogue about the bit in the paper ~~damn you Beka and Pheebs!~~ well, she can't really stop you, now can she?]]

Veronica notices Rogue in the common room and stops in to say hi.

"Hey, how are you?" she asks. "Did you have a good weekend with Logan? Thanks for setting up that interview."

Rogue looks up from staring at some bad Lifetime movie. "Oh, hi, Veronica. I'm okay." She smiles a little. "Oh, yeah, I did. And you're welcome, though I read that he was his usual grouchy self with you. Hope he didn't scare you too bad. He tends to do that."

"I've met scarier," she confides.

"What's going on?"

"Have you heard what they think happened to Kitty? I feel so awful, I mean, she's my roommate, and with Logan in town and all, I didn't even notice she was gone." She sighs. "I was so selfish. I mean, people just disappear all the time 'round here, but my roommate??"

"Aw, Rogue, it's not your fault," she reaches over to pat Rogue's arm in a gesture of comfort.

[ooc:V doesn't know IC that you're a mutant]

Rogue gasps and pulls her arm away quickly, her other hand rushing to cover exposed skin. "I--I'm sorry. It's...it's not you, I promise," she whispers. "Um, just ... when people touch my skin, somethin' bad happens."

[[OOC: Putting this after Aeryn convo? Since V had to go to the JA meeting.]]

Veronica frowns.

"What do you mean?" she asks, genuinely confused.

[ooc: that is fine]

Rogue takes a deep breath. "I--" She closes her eyes. "I'm a mutant. My skin, it hurts people. It's not somethin' I like to talk about, but you seem like the type that wouldn't care." She sighs.

Veronica smiles.

"Of course I don't care. I mean, I care if it causes you a problem, but it doesn't make a difference to me. We don't have to talk about it if you don't want to. And I'll keep it to myself."

"Thanks. I appreciate that. It kinda sucks when everyone's afraid you're gonna kill 'em with a touch." She gives V a small smile. "So now you understand the gloves, huh? Though I think they make me look mysterious."

Veronica glances at Rogue's hands.

"You know? I have to admit, I never really paid attention. Some detective I'm going to be."

She smiles.

"I'm not afraid of much ~~just Bel & his fireballs~~. I trust you."

"I guess that's comfortin'. It's usually the first think people notice, it being so different and all." Rogue raises a brow, a very Logan-like movement, if V catches it. "I think you'll be a fine detective. Rumor has it you already are."

Veronica shrugs.

"So," she says, lowering her voice. "What exactly is the deal with you and that Logan guy?"

Rogue looks almost like a deer in the headlights for a moment, then recovers quickly. She shrugs non-commitally. "You read the paper." She looks away, biting her lip. Clearly there's something she's not telling.

Veronica smiles and tilts her head.

"Yeah. I also have eyes and ears," she teases.

"Oh, yeah, those." She looks down at her hands. "I'm not going to be able to get away with lyin' here, am I?" Rogue looks back up at Veronica.

Veronica chuckles.

"I'm not going to force you to tell me anything. I'm just teasing you a little."

[ooc: going to bed - finally!]

"Well, I'll admit, he's a little more than a guardian. He and I are ... close," she says with a smile.

[[OOC: night!]]

"Well, good," Veronica says.

"Listen, I need to get going. If you need to talk at all about the Kitty thing, I'm around, okay? I went through that a few years ago."

After leaving Flight Club early to spend far too much time in the gym, Aeryn wanders back up towards her room. She stops when she sees Rogue sitting there, not sure if she should interrupt, or whether to just go back to her own room and stay there.

Rogue looks up at the sound. "Hey. Wanna watch some really bad TV?" She offers a little smile.

"Isn't it all bad?" asks Aeryn, coming around to the other side of the sofa.

"Not all of it. Just most." She shrugs. "We could probably find somethin' decent if we tried."

She looks at Aeryn. "You're Aeryn, right? There's too many doubles 'round here, I get all confused."

Aeryn nods as she sits down. "And you're... Rogue?"

She tilts her head. "The one and only." She offers the remote. "You wanna try to find somethin'? I think SVU is on at 10, that's usually good."

"You can keep that," Aeryn says. "I'm not very good at picking what to watch."

She pauses, frowning. "Did I see you at Flight Club?"

"I was there, but I skipped out early. Didn't really feel up to it today." Rogue shruggs. "Last week I crashed the sim, anyway," she says with a little grin. "I should have probably stayed for the practice."

She looks over at Aeryn. "You fly?"

"As long as you crash the sim and not the actual ship," Aeryn smiles. "Yeah, I'm a pilot. I left early, too."

"After last week, I doubt there's enough alcohol in the world to get Anakin drunk enough to let me actually fly," Rogue says with a grin. "Really? What do you fly? Like, a spaceship?"

She's still getting used to hearing them called spaceships. "A Prowler," she says. "A fighter ship. Have you never flown before?"

"Not really, no. At my old school we had a Blackbird, but only the teachers got to fly it. That's why I'm in the flyin' club, actually. I want to learn to fly before I go back there to join the team--the teaching staff." Rogue shoots a sidelong glance at Aeryn.

"Good goal." She pauses, and smiles a little. "If all schools don't have ships to fly, you'll have to tell me. I honestly have no idea."

"Oh, not usually." She shakes her head. "For the most part, American schools have a driver's ed car and a bunch of busses as their only transportation. Planes--er, ships, aren't exactly standard."

"Was your last school like this?" Aeryn wonders.

"Well--" Rogue thinks for a minute. "Kind of. I mean, no school is like this, really," she says with a smirk. "But my school was more like this one than a 'quote unquote' normal school."

"Just with a Blackbird." Aeryn smiles. "You want to go into teaching?"

"Well, sort of. I mostly just want to help kids, kids like me, that have no family, don't know what to do next, that sort of thing." She shrugs. "Teachin's the best way to do that. I think."

She looks over at Aeryn, and realizes she's been talking almost the whole time. "Wha about you? What do you want to do?"

The answer's immediate. "Permanent Prowler duty. Beyond that..."

"What does that mean? I mean, besides flyin' the Prowler..."

"As much as I like being able to shoot back at something that's shooting at me, I'd like to be able to stay flying," Aeryn says. "There would be some combat involved, but for the most part it would be space battles, things like that. I prefer it."

Rogue's eyes go wide. "Space battles? You mean there are other people out there you'd have to fight? Wow..."

"Well, not here. There's no one here that would want to attack you or your world," Aeryn says. She never seems to get used to people finding out what she does. "It's the other areas we worry about."

"Hmm. I guess I shouldn't be too surprised, I mean, look at this school, but it's still something that's--wow--so outside my experience. The only people in Mississippi that believe in aliens were the crazies." She smirks. "Believe in abductions and all."

"It's new for a lot of people," says Aeryn, trying not to think too hard about Parents' Weekend. "I get the feeling that thought's a little widespead."

Rogue nods. "Yeah, it really is." She yawns. "Wow. It's kind of late."

[[And mun should go to bed. Yes she should.]]

Aeryn holds her hand out for the remote.

((Yes she should. *shoos you off*))

Rogue obediently hands it over. "Hate to break it to you, but late-nite tv is even worse than usual," she says with a smile. "It was nice talkin' to you."

She heads out the door and up to her room.
