Marty sits in the common room trying to find something decent to watch on television.

Yep. Friday Night. Watching TV.

Bored out of her mind after gun club, Sam decided to see what was on television. Instead she found, "Marty. Hey."

Rory, bored, wanders out into the common room with a very active Vladdie.

"Stupid nocturnal pet. Hey, Marty. Sam. What's shakin'?"

"Hey Sam. Haven't seen you since Parent's Weekend. I assume your 'Uncle' and Cousins didn't overload you with any angst?"

Marty flips the channel on to some Keanu Reeves movie.

"Hey Rory. Vladdie on the spazzy side tonight?"

"He always is," Rory replies, holding Vladdie up so his legs wriggle in the air. "He sleeps during the day, you know."

She sat down in one of the chairs, then remembered to slouch. "They were okay, thanks. The angst came afterwards, when moronboy didn't tell anyone he had pneumonia and ended up in the infirmary all week. He's still there."

"What are we watching?"

"Right Vampire puppy. I'm not even going to ask how that came about. What Vladdie needs is a game of fetch." Marty digs around in the sofa and comes up with a tennis ball. ((Come on! It could happen))

"Vladdie want the ball?"

Vladdie perks up. Rory sighs and sets him down on the floor so he can scurry over to Marty, and she can sit on the couch.

"What are we watching?"

"Keanu Reeves hanging out with a bunch of people in black leather."

Marty throws the ball across the room.

"You okay? I'd think that on a Friday night you'd be hanging out with Logan."

"Nah," Rory replies. "Logan's party's tomorrow, after all. And I'll likely spend the night there after that. So I'm staying in the dorms tonight."

Marty nods as he gently tries to pull the ball from Vladdie's mouth.

"Yeah. I'm actually looking forward to going to it. I think that's exactly what this campus needs."

"Good," Rory says, smiling. "It's nice to hear someone actually supporting it. I've been defending Logan all over the place. Not that that's anything new, of course."

"Well, his message may have been... different. But the thought behind it is pretty well apparent. Logan and I may not get along very well but I can see he's trying to help out."

"No, I think it's a good idea. It's a way to release stress and be young. The memorial's the day after that, but if we don't do something, it'll be like a cemetary around here."

"Something with Keanu and people wearing black leather doing acrobatic stunts."

He watches it for a second.

"Thank god these people don't go to school here. How is it all of you have the same uncle? And what's with Jack's brother?"

Marty flings the ball across the room for Vladdie.

"No kidding. I think the Tick is broken."

"Exactly. People grieve in their own ways. Logan's throwing a totally irreverent party in order to deal with this," Rory shrugs. "People need to just get that and then get over it if they don't like it. No one has to come."

"I know," Rory says sadly. "He's very un-Tickish."

"Right. If they want to miss out on some fine tequila, then it's their own damn fault."

"Yeah. And besides, I made a note that Logan stuck to the flyer - there'll be a place set aside for people who don't want to be in at the party to mourn if they want."

"I tried to cheer him up earlier and he only used one metaphor. That's a step in the right direction."

"Thanks, that cleared that right up for me."

She watches, then decides that the stunts are cool, but she could care less about the plot.

"They'll probably show up in December, knowing our luck." She rolled her eyes. "We don't. Janet and Jack have the same Uncle, but I've known Janet forever, so her Uncle is practically my uncle. And Jack's brother was adopted."

Damn it, Jack, was the word guardian too tough for you?

"Jack's brother is hot. What else do you need to know?"

"He's speaking at the memorial. I think that'll help." She tucks her hair behind her ears. "And I talked to the Little Wooden Boy in class the other day."

"Ah. The Gilmore touch. Well thought out and sympathetic to boot. I knew there was a reason why I liked you. Drop it Vladdie." Marty said trying to pull the ball frm the dog."
