First Floor Lobby, Evening

If anyone is actually in the dorms tonight and not at Logan-who-used-to-be-a-bunny's party, they might find The Tick in the first floor lobby, surrounded by notepads with writing all over them. He looks physically rested, but still a bit restless.

Little Wooden Boy is sitting in the chair opposite him.

Anyone who wanted to interrupt either one of them could do so rather easily.

Veronica comes back to the dorms after spending the day at the Perk, writing her newspaper article and chatting with Marshall.

She recognizes Professor Tick from her dad stopping in his class room last weekend.

"Hey, Professor, how are you?" she asks.

"Hello! Veronica, right? I'm... okay." Redirecting the subject quickly, he asked, "How are you tonight?"

"Yes, Veronica Mars. And I'm good sir. Just got back from writing my newspaper article."

She pauses for a moment.

"Will you be offering Criminal Justice next semester? My dad would be very happy if I enrolled and I think it would be a good class for me."

"Of course I will! There's always more to learn about Justice, so I suppose there's always more to teach about it as well! I'd be glad to have you in class next semester!"

[OOC: I was just telling someone earlier today that if Veronica didn't sign up next semester, Tick was going to offer her a CJ Independent Study. Wacky how this happens.]

"I'm looking forward to it. My dad is a private investigator and I've helped it out some."

[ooc: prolly afk for a bit.]

"We don't have any PIs in the class right now, so it would be a whole new perspective added to the class discussion. I'll be sure to hold a spot for you!"

[OOC: I'll be around when you're back. Assuming you're back within the next 6 hours or so. If it's past that, I'm probably sleeping.]

"Great! I'm looking forward to it. I somehow missed signups for it this semester."

"I signed up to teach after the semester started. You probably just lost me in the shuffle!"

Idly curious, Tick asked, "Are you working on any keen cases right now? Investigating the Truth of What Ails Us for the paper? Uncovering a Vast Gremlin Conspiracy to make us tapdance? What's the Word, Veronica?"

Veronica hesitates. She knows the administration's policy on investigating Kitty's death so she doesn't think she should mention that she's investigating it.

"Um, no not really, she says. I'm just working on a series of articles for the paper to educate the student body on the truth about their non-human classmates."

"A noble thing to write about. Bringing together people of all origins."

The Tick leaned in and attempted a whisper, but in reality his voice merely lowered to the normal speaking volume of a regular person. "Technically speaking, I'm not human either." His voice went back to its normal volume. "I'm an arachnid." The Tick smiled wider than he had in days.

"An arachnid? That's like a type of spider, right? Would you be willing to let me interview you for the paper some time?"

"Other way around, actually. Arachnids are eight-legged bugs." Tick smiled. Unless he was hiding a few limbs very well, he only had the normal two arms and two legs.

"And I suppose an interview couldn't hurt! Just let me know when!"

[OOC: Sorry with the delay to that. I'll still be up for a little bit if you have anything else to get through here and are still awake. If there is anything else but you're sleeping, we can wrap it up tomorrow.]

"Oh, sorry, I'm not really up on my, um, insect terminology," she apologizes with a grimace, hoping she isn't offending.

"I think I'm doing next week's article on demons, but I'll get with you sometime in the near future."

[ooc: am still awake - caffeine OD]

"That's okay, plenty of people get it all mixed up." Tick's smile remained. He hadn't been in a newspaper since he was back in The City rescuing people every day. This was going to be keen!

Veronica grins.

"It's nice to have willing volunteers," she tells him. "I understand that some of the non-human students and faculty are afraid to be featured that way."

"Well, most people don't believe that I'm an arachnid," he said, still not showing any additional limbs. It's easy to see how people would make such a mistake. "So it would be nice to let people know the real The Tick, you know?"

"I would have never guessed if you hadn't told me," she admits.

"It's an easy mistake to make, really. I mean, not most of the time. You wouldn't mistake a regular little tick for a person or anything. That would just be silly! No, I'm a special case."

Veronica grins.

"That you are. I'm guessing not a whole lot of arachnids are super heroes either. Except Spiderman maybe. But then again, I don't think he would count."

[ooc: sorry for delay - finally crashed hard!]

"Ooh, Spiderman? I'm just starting to hear about superheroes from other places. He sounds keen!"

[OOC: No worries. I know how that goes. :)]

Veronica chuckles. "Well, in my dimension, he's fictional, but I have a feeling that doesn't mean much here."

She pauses, trying to remember her Spiderman lore."He's this regular guy that's a scientist and he gets bitten by a radioactive spider and develops super powers," she explains.

[ooc: and now? I think this game needs a Peter Parker!]

"Huh." Tick picks up one of his notepads and jots down a note saying that he should seek out his fellow arachnid hero if he gets the chance. "That sounds like a pretty keen origin. Does that kind of thing actually work, getting bitten by radioactive animals?"

[OOC: Mods willing, I want to apply to be him next semester. But there's that "Only new players can apply to be students" rule for the next enrollment. It couldn't hurt to ~~beg~~ ~~plead~~ ~~bribe~~ ask when we get closer.]

"It does in the movies," she says. "I can't say for sure about real life. But if zombies, vampires, witches and demons are all real, then why not?"

[ooc: that would be SO AWESOME. do you play any students now?]

"That's a very good point, Veronica! Who's to say what's impossible around here?"

[OOC: No, I don't. That's the only reason I think I even have a slim chance at getting them to adjust the rules. That and my rampant enthusiasm for wanting to play Peter. I wanted to sign up as Peter instead of Tick, actually, but I figured Tick would give me more flexibility as I was figuring this whole game out.]

"Well, Professor, I think it's time for me to get to bed. I'll be in touch about the article. Good night!"

[ooc: i think that makes sense... *hopes you get approval*]

"Have a good ~~afternoon~~ night, Veronica!"
