It is a large brown parcel of books and a thick envelope, directed as having been shipped from England.

"Thank you very much, Miss." Wesley takes the parcel, shuts the door, and throws the letter across the room, where it falls behind the bed. He opens the package, sighs, unlocks the trunk, adds the books to the stack in the trunk, and relocks it.

He throws himself on the bed with the book he was already reading and does NOT look behind the bed for the letter.
