Common room 2nd floor, evening

Needing a break from psychology homework, Cameron is in the common room on the 2nd floor. After his conversation with Rory, he's definitely feeling better about the whole thing and it's given him inspiration. He's trying to make chocolate cake. Only, there's more of the ingredients spread out on his shirt and in his hair than there is actually in the bowls in front of him.

He's not about to give up, though. Even if it kills him. Which might actually be possible as the eggs aren't looking so happy with the treatment they're getting.

Wandering around her new floor and getting her bearings, Sam stopped in the doorway and observed the scene for a few minutes. "I'd offer to help, but you've seen me in action. What'cha making?"

"As a new resident on the second floor, that's a plan I can totally get behind," Sam grinned back. "You've...got some cocoa on your cheek, if you care."

Sam bit her bottom lip to hide the grin when she saw the flour. No doubt Vala would have fun cleaning him off later.

"Are you working from a recipe, or from a mix? That's an awful lot of bowls."

"That was very nice of her," Sam said, trying to catch a glimpse of the recipe. Not like she'd know what to do with it. "What brought on this sudden aspiration to be a baker, anyway?"

"As good a reason as any, I guess. I spent yesterday moving stuff with Janet and Kawalsky, then unpacking. I can't stare at those walls for another second."

Sam looked around, then spotted the radio. "Sure. Any music preferences?"

Sam walked over to the radio and turned it on, adjusting the dial, finally stopping on an oldies station.

"I can't believe this song qualifies as oldies," she muttered, "but whatever." Louder, she said, "It's almost impossible to be depressed to music from the fifties and sixties. Even the slow stuff is silly enough to ward off depression."

"Don't worry about helping--I didn't have that much stuff. We made it in three trips. And I'm in 231 now." She smiled and bounced a little. "My very own single."

Angela wanders downstairs and sees Sam and Cameron talking. "Oh, baking? Wnat are you making?"

"The Blues are their own special category. And I think they started earlier, but I'm not positive about that. Rory's living with Parker? I hadn't heard that, but it should be interesting, what with Parker hating Logan and all."

She peeked into the bowl. "I think it kinda looks like cake batter. Did you try it to see if it tastes normal?"

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2005-11-29 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
"Hey, Angela," Sam said. "I'm just here for moral support."

Sam eyed the bowl skeptically, then gave Cameron the same look. "Is there a spoon or something, so it's not just me sticking my finger in?"

It looked like batter to her. "Angela, can you cook? Because I'm really bad, and I think we need someone who knows what they're doing in this arena."

"From scratch?" Angela says. "That's totally impressive."

Her eyes can the ingredients. "Um, I worked in my dad's restaurant a little last summer ... but I am so not a baker. Can I help at all? I could at least taste the batter with Sam."

Sam took the spoon. "Oh, that's reassuring." She dipped the end into the bowl and got a little of the batter on the spoon. The she sniffed it. "Smells okay."

"Why aren't you tasting," Sam asked him, suspiciously. "You should have more faith in what you did. You go first."
