4th floor common room - Saturday morning
Shep rolls over for the eightieth time and realizes he really isn't going to be getting any more sleep any time soon. His arm is sore from the abuse P.T. and even with the brace on, he's pretty sure he slept on it funny.
So as not to wake his roommate, Shep grabs his laptop and heads down to the common room to make the first entry on his log for ethics and play Sims for a while.
Still in his pajamas, with a blanket around his shoulders, he settles into a couch, flips on the tube and types with one hand:
Ethics Assignment - Entry #1 - Saturday, December 3, 2005
Okay, so at first I couldn't think of what I needed to stop doing - which sounds arrogant as hell, but since I don't routinely go around making terribly snide remarksexcept to McKay or blowing people off just because they bother me or cheating on homework or whatever, I wasn't sure what to do.
Anyway, Lana says I need to knock off the 'stupider-than-thou' act. I didn't really think that would bother anyone, but apparently it does. So for the next week I actually have to own up to everything I understand, instead of playing dumb to get a laughor get out of something. God help me I hope I don't run into McKay this week.
Just typing that took far longer than he had expected and now he's sleepy again, so he puts the computer on the table, snuggles up in his blanket and flips to VH1's Top Twenty Countdown and closes his eyes and listens to the music. He suspects he ought to start running again sometime soon. He'd just have to be sure not to trip and fall and it shouldn't aggravate his wrist too badly. But not today.
[he's not asleep, just kind of drifting. Come in and chat.]
[ETA: Shep and Lana have fallen asleep curled up together on the couch. Anyone want to come in and find them that way?]

She goes through the hand exercises gently, but firmly. They seem to go a little easier to her, but then she's not the one feeling the pain. When she's done she starts up the massage again, a little more gently than before. "Any better this way?"

"Yeah, it is. Thanks." He sinks back into the couch as Lana works out the worst of the residual pain. He refuses to admit that now he's tired again.

She starts to say something else, then looks at him again and changes her mind. "You know... I'm feeling a little tired here. Think I'll go back to my room and lie down for a while. Maybe read a book, maybe take a nap. Why don't you come find me there when it's time for your next session?" She hopes her little subterfuge will let him save a little face, but also get the rest he needs.

Don't leave on my account. I'm just in a couch potato kind of mood today.
*tucks his sore arm against his chest and turns so his back is against the back of the couch but he can still see everyone.*

Thanks, I guess. You're warm.
*He wraps the end of the blanket around them both.*
