She's Baaaack!

Zero is back from vacation. This is proven by the pile of luggage in front of the dorms, which has the following sign stuck to it, scribbled on what appears to be a piece of staff paper:

The girl in question can be found pack-muling her things up the stairs to the second floor, but if anyone runs into her and wants to chat, she'd definitely welcome the break.

The sound of constant back-and-forth traffic draws Archie out of his room, and he comes down the hall when he sees Zero and the pile of luggage.

"Welcome back, Zero. Did you have a good holiday? And would you like any help?"

Oh, hi, Archie! It's great to be back.

*gestures to the pile* My family heard that I had the room to myself now and sent me back with, y'know, stuff. If you'll get a suitcase, I'll get the folding chair thingies.

"Gladly." Archie picks up the suitcase, noting that Zero hasn't directly answered his question about the holiday. "How much 'stuff' did they send you back with, exactly?"

Twitch an' Rat both swear it's just what I need to outfit a 'proper' dorm room, but...it does look like a lot, yeah? One of those boxes is just records, though, an' some of it's Christmas presents. And Rat was globbin' on about shipping me a TV if we can have TVs. Do you know if we can have TVs? Parker does, but then Parker had two rooms to start with.

"I don't believe there's anything in the rules prohibiting TVs, no. I'm fairly certain I saw that young man of Cally's hauling the box for one up the stairs the other day." Archie surveys the pile with a mild twinge of envy. "It must be pleasant, having a family that willing to be generous with you."

Oh, um. My parents, they're traveling all year, y'know? For their jobs, I guess--they're singers, so they're on tour. They've sort of been pickin' me stuff up along the way. Guilt presents, Mum called 'em.

*wry grin* An' Rat has ten years worth of Christmases to make up for.

Archie nods understandingly. "Ah, yes, that makes sense. A fellow or two who served on my last ship did something of the sort for their families as well. What happened to your roommate?"

She left. For the second time. The first time, she was fine, and this time, she even took all her stuff with her, so I figure she just, y'know, went home. She was kinda flaky, so I'm not too surprised she forgot to tell me.

"Mm. Yes. To be honest I can't be sure if my own roommate is still around or not. His effects are still in the room, but I never see him myself. And my floor is so quiet as it is, the entire effect is decidedly unsettling."

I can't remember; who's your roommate? *kicks the door to 220 open* Maybe you could move to one of the other floors? There are lots of people on this one.

"Messy-haired bespectacled boy by the name of Potter?" Archie shrugs and lugs the suitcase into the room. "Honestly, I do like the ground-level view. I just come up here for the people," he adds, smiling. "The quiet is not such a bad thing all the time."

You can just chuck that case on the bed. The one with no sheets.

...Oh, yeah, him. Looks just like my ex, except a Brit. I think he was in my biology class, but I haven' seen him around in...squall, couple of months, I think. *grins at Archie* The ground floor has definite advantages. Like for sneakin' out.

"Yes, going in and out of the window is remarkably easy if it comes to that," Archie agrees with a smile. He nods and lays the suitcase onto the stripped bed. "What do you plan to do with the vacant furniture? That is, assuming you don't intend to take another roommate?"

He pauses. "Harry had a double as well?"

Ginger isn't here, he's at MIT, but yeah. Apparently. Down to the glasses. It kinda freaked me out the first time I saw Harry.

*plants one hand on her hip* I might get some king-size sheets and push the beds together to make one sort of mega-bed. That'd be kind of swerval. I can use the extra dresser for a sort of pantry, but I do need to get rid of the extra desk an' chair to make way for the TV. Maybe even a minifridge?

I could just drag the desk out in the hall and hope Res Affairs picks it up or whatever.

Archie considers a moment. "I could put it in the common room. I'm sure someone could make use of a desk there. What would you do with such a large bed though?" he adds, winking. "Seems awfully decadent. But with all this room to yourself, you could make yourself quite the comfortable nest."

People do try to study in there, I think...

I could bounce on it? Maybe I should keep them separate and use the extra one as, like, a sofa. I wonder how the other people with singles do it. 'Course, the people in proper singles get their own bathroom.

Parker rapped her knuckles against the door, and grinned. "Hey, stranger."

*Looks up from trying to make a small plastic table(which someone has lovingly stenciled with the anarchy symbol) not collapse when she lets go of it.*

Parker! When'd you get back?

*Releases table. It collapses.* Squall.

"Let me help. Nice table," Parker says, striding into the room. "Very you. And I got back early this afternoon, I've just been unpacking, and trying to get Rory to come out from under a pile of blankets."

Thanks. I can't get it stay up. Grindin' thing used t'be Arsenal's, back when she was in college. I'm sure I'm doing somethin' wrong here...*head jerks around* What's wrong with Rory?

"I'll hold it steady, you get the legs as straight as possible." Parker held the table, and rolled her eyes. "Nothing, except terminal embarassment. Gremlin bite."

*pulls the legs straight* Okay, try it now.

Happens to the best of us. If she kept her clothes on, she's still one up on Daisy. Tell her that. Y'know, I slept in that lounge for two nights before we cleaned it out, an' they didn't bite me. Partied an' possibly sexed it up under the couch, but I never got bit. Weird, now I think about it. *shakes her head* And now I've jinxed myself, haven't I?

"Oh, you're very doomed. I may be less so, since I already suffered at the hands of Crazy Squid Lady this year. But you never know." Parker grinned. "She kept her clothes on, but she thought she was three years old. There was art work, I think it's hilarious."

That's...kinda cute. Embarrassin' as squall. But cute.

"Yup. The artwork of the pageant is particularly endearing. Evidently Jaye Tyler got video, we can track it down at some point. And not tell Rory, of course." Parker backed away from the table, eyeing it carefully. "I think it'll stay. How was the rest of your vacation?"

Swerval! I got in a lot of time with the band, and my whole family was home, it was great! An' the sibs decided to deck my room out right, now I'm livin' alone. *sags a little* But then my parents had to go, because they're playin' some club in LA on New Year's Eve. So I had t'come back a bit early.

"Sorry." Parker shrugs in sympathy. "We came back early because my dad had to work. I got to see some of my friends in Blue Cove, though." She grinned. "I'm glad you got in time with the band. January 13th is coming up soon!"

Oh, the dance got set for January thirteenth? Right, then I need to call them up an' make sure they have guest passes ready. It would grind for the entertainment t' get Rovered. *flashes a grin at Parker*

"Good point. Have them come in early in the day, that way they can get set up and get used to the gym." Parker grins back. "Should be fun! And it'll be a good way to get the newbies used to us. They can get an idea of what this place is like, with a punk rock band at their first dance."

I'll call 'em in the morning. Poor little things won't know what hit 'em.

*after a pause* I um. I meant the new kids.

John stumbles out, sees the "Fear of Mullet" sign, and goes back in his room.

"Achy Breaky Heart" can be heard playing softly as is a repeated thudding sound that sounds suprisingly like a head and a desk being used as a musical instrument.

Parker snickered. "I'm not sure we *could* traumatize your band, but we can certainly try. Are you going to the New Year's Eve parties around town tomorrow?"

Nah, ~~my mun is feeling lazy~~ I think I'm goin' to stay in. I'll probably be all jet-laggy and no fun.
