First Floor Lobby, Tuesday Late Morning/Early Afternoon

There are still six days left to go before classes start, and Anders has stationed himself in the first floor lobby with . . . a book. (He's quite shocked about it too, actually.) Yes, he's actually reading.

Granted, it's a book on baseball history that Cally gave him for Christmas. But the important thing here is that he's reading. Voluntarily. And not for class.

And he kind of wants people to see this. Just so they know he actually can read, and isn't afraid of books. Hence his presence in the first floor lobby instead of one of the common rooms.

Not that he'd be averse to a conversation if anyone were to stop by.

[OOC: It is deader than dead at work today. Entertain me. I beg you.]

Lily shuddered. No one should ever have to think of cuddling with bugs.

"I don't think I've met Phoebe yet, but I've met both of her sisters. Oh! And I didn't mean to be so rude - you're Bel, right?" Lily offered to shake his hand. "Lily Evans. Draco is doing quite well - much more relaxed over break, of course. We're both trying to get recharged before the new term starts."

Bel took Lily's hand and shook it. "Yeah, Belthazor, Bel works, too," he said ~~not feeling a momentary pang because it was Angelus who first started calling him that~~. "Phoebe's great. She's not like her sisters, not as quiet as Piper or as, um, extroverted as Paige."

He leaned toward Anders and offered him his hand as well.

Anders took his hand and shook it with a smile. "Hey, Bel. Anders. So, bugs, huh? Not the best substitute. That all you've been doing over break? 'cause it's probably more productive than what I've been doing."

[OOC: Ack, sorry, had to go to lunch.]

"Yeah, taking care of Dr. Grissom's collection, ~~plotting to desoul Angel,~~ hanging out at Caritas, doing a little reading." He peered at Anders' book. "What do you have there?"

[OOC: No problem. Am about to drive home in a blizzard myself. Wheeee!]

"Stuff on the history of Major League Baseball." Anders grinned. "Baseball's probably the second-greatest discovery I've made since I've been here. I have got to bring some of these sports back home with me after I graduate. Could be a big hit on the Colonies."

[OOC: Yikes -- drive safely!]

"I don't know much about sports," Bel said. "Except like swordfighting, if that counts. Wrestling I guess. But nothing where you grab a ball and run or hit a ball and run.

"So what's the greatest discovery you've made since you've been here?" he went on to ask, having a good guess at the answer.

[OOC: Made it. ;) ]

Anders broke out into a schmoopy grin of possible stomach-turning magnitude, which was really all the answer he needed to give. "Best discovery of my life, hands down. Better than any sport ever, and yeah, swordfighting counts." He scratched his nose thoughtfully. "I'd do that, too, if I didn't have to worry about getting hurt and messing up my career."

[OOC: *whew*]

"Looks like we both made the same kind of discovery," Bel said wistfully, looking toward the door again. "So, are you one of the ones who plays -- what is the name of that game again? I can never get it straight for some reason."

"Heh, yeah." Anders followed Bel's gaze toward the door, vaguely wondering for a moment why he was looking that way. "Oh. Heh. What, you mean Pyramid? Yeah, that's me. And, well, Kara, but she's kinda out of commission at the moment."

"Pyramid. Right. ~~Not Triad.~~ Seems like fun. Not sure what all the rules are, though," Bel said. "Kara -- don't know her, but I've seen her around. What happened to her?"

"Yeah. ~~'cause they got mixed up when they wrote the miniseries script, oops.~~ It's fun, but kinda rough. ~~And there are no canon rules, OMG.~~"

Anders hesitated for a moment at the mention of Kara's name and added shortly, "We were training. She must've come down on her foot wrong, or something, and blew out her knee."

[OOC: Ack, sorry, had pressing things to attend to for a while there.]

"Sounds like my kind of game," Bel said. ~~So long as I don't have to wear the oh-so-very-gay uniforms from the original show.~~ "Maybe I'll have to check it out sometime. Sorry to hear about your friend, though. That sucks."

[OOC: No worries. :) ]

"Yeah, I think she's pretty messed up about it," agreed Anders. "~~And dear lord, those uniforms scare me.~~ Sure, catch me down in the gym sometime. Don't have anyone else to play with right now, but I'm gonna try and scrape up a few people to play this semester. Could be interesting."

"I'll do just that," Bel said. "Sounds like fun. How many people do you need to play? ~~And is it considered cheating if I use my powers?~~"

"Well, you can play one on one like we've been doing. That's always more challenging, having nobody on your team to pass to. As long as you've got even teams, really, but the court's not big enough for more than maybe three or four players on a side at once before it gets kinda dangerous." Anders nodded, his ~~slightly maniacal~~ Pyramid-enthusiast grin at maximum intensity. ~~"And uh, I don't think it says anything about using powers in the rulebooks. Probably because it's not in my canon, but y'know."~~

"I'll keep an eye out for you in the gym then," Bel said. "I'm down there quite a bit so if I run into you maybe you can show me how the game works. And I don't mind dangerous." He grinned at Anders.

"Cool." Anders grinned back, but guardedly. "It's always dangerous, yeah. Just don't want to end up getting anybody else hurt again, if I can help it. I must never be in the gym at the same time as you, 'cause I'm down there all the time and I don't think I've run into you."

"I tend to go when there's no one else around," Bel said. "Never know around here who is going to get pissed that I'm there." He shrugged. "But you seem cool about it."
