Fourth Floor Common Room: Wednesday evening

After being checked over by Doctor House, Lana made her way up to the 4th floor common room. She had seen Shep earlier at the meet and greet for the new students, but had left early to go see the doctor. She didn't feel like being cooped up in a dorm room so she grabbed a blanket and pillow and headed to the common room to veg in front of the TV and hopefully not be alone.

Maia came up looking for Shep, she was worried about Lana. Spying her dark hair she smiled "Lana!" she said hurrying over to her. "Good Lord girl, I've been looking all over for you."

Lana looks over and sees Maia and smiles. "Hey, Maia. What's up? You've been looking for me?" She frowns wondering if something is wrong. "Are you okay?"

"Oh no I'm fine. I was worried about you. How are you?" Maia's face is no longer bruised, Paige had healed her but her eyes were full of concern for Lana. "Where have you been?"

Lana looks surprised, then her eyes widen as she realizes what Maia means. "Oh God, Maia, I'm sorry. I... I never thought to tell anyone - my head's been in such a state. Shep was worried about me staying alone up in my dorm so I've been staying down here with him so he can check on me in the night." She blushes.

Maia was relieved to hear that was all it was. "Oh good. Thank goodness." She breathed a sigh of relief and then hearing Lana's words again she smiled widely "Oh he's been checking on you huh? So considerate." She giggled. "And in the middle of the night to."

Lana blushes again. "Yeah, he's really great. He offered me Wes's bed since Wes has left, but... well..."

"Oh no that would be, well goodness for him to walk all the way to Wes' bed to check on you. How taxing that must have been" Maia grins at her "Whatever did you do take care of that?" Maia was relieved to have Lana ok so she didn't mind teasing her friend about it. Besides she adored Lana with Shep

"God, Maia..." Lana can't stop blushing. "Okay, no, we decided - maybe I suggested - that it didn't make sense to do it that way, so I stayed with him in his bed. Okay?"

Maia's mouth fell open for a moment "You suggested." Maia was momentarily speechless but she quickly recovered "Oh my God." She laughed then "So well... what happened? Did he hold you ever so tenderly?" Maia winked.

"You are such a... I don't know what," Lana muttered hopelessly and buried her face in her hands. "And it's not like it's the first time we've slept in the same bed."

Maia sat on the coffee table in front of Lana. "OH." She said her eyebrow raising "Really?"

"Oh God." Lana wondered how she'd ever gotten herself into this conversation. Could she still blame it on the concussion? Or the meds? "Well, we haven't... you know.... But we have kind of, well..." She took a deep breath. "We've, you know, fooled around, um... a lot... and um... Well, so, we, you know, ended up just with him, not going back to his room."

"And while I'm there now, though, there's not even that, 'cause he's worried he'd be taken advantage because of my head injury."

Lana closes her eyes and wonders if she can just die of embarrassment right now.

Maia smiles not wanting to make her friend die in front of her, she is surprised Lana told her that much. "Oh ok, well yeah thats cool. I mean hell, whats a little fooling around among friends." She grinned broadly "We all do it. I think though that him not wanting to do anything while your injured is admirable and that just raised his value to me indefinatly." Maia nodded thrilled for her friend to have someone so considerate after all that had happened earlier in the year with Archie.

Lana managed a smile. "Yeah, he's really a great guy. I'm awfully lucky to have him around."

Maia nodded "And you know what the most important part of all that is?"

Lana wrinkled up her face. "What?"

"That I approve of him of course." Maia laughed and then stopped "That your happy Lana. Thats the most important thing." Maia's eyes were serious now, she did not want Lana hurt and she honestly did not think Shep would hurt her.

Lana smiled at Maia's first comment and got quieter at her second. "Yeah, I am happy," she said softly. "I really am. I don't know really what exactly is going on - we haven't really talked about what we are or how we feel about each other. And it's not like I'm looking to marry him or anything - god I'm only 17 - but..." She sighed. "Yeah, he makes me happy and I think I make him happy too. It's a good feeling."

Maia looked lost in a thought for a moment "Yeah it is nice."

Lana smiled and rested her head back against the couch. "I don't think I've felt this happy in a long time. It's a nice feeling."

She bit her lip. "I just hope it lasts. So far my track record has been pretty terrible."

Maia smiled "You'll be fine. Don't think about the others and just focus on what you have with Shep and how nice it is for the both of you. For what its worth, I think you guys are great."

"Thanks," Lana said with feeling. "You're pretty great too, you know. I'm really lucky to have you in my life."

Maia blushed "T-thank you." She whispered softly "Your pretty special yourself."

"Well, and now that we've formed a mutual admiration society," Lana joked, "What do we do next?"

Maia laughed "We decide whatever classes we're going to take with each other, be each others group work partner so we can adore one another not only outside of class but in class as well." Maia said with a flourish.

Laan laughed. "Yeah, classes. I wonder when we get to sign up for those." She shrugged. "And on that note, I think I'm going to go get ready to crash. It's been a long day. I'll see you tomorrow." She hugged Maia and gathered her stuff up to head down to room 402.

It was going to be... different to have Han there, too. Maybe she should still just gather up her stuff and head back to her room. It's not as if she needed to be woken up regularly during the night, but she really enjoyed having someone there.

Okay, admit it, damn it. She really enjoyed having *Shep* there. He might not know she was having some nightmares that woke her up, but it was really reassuring to wake up and have him *there* - warm, solid, safe. Oh well, it's not as if this was going to go on forever anyway.

Having finally settled into 402, han decides to explore. First stop the common room.

"Lana honey. Have a good break?"

He comes over t hug her.

Lana flinched a little as Han hugged her, but gave him a big smile. "Han! It's so good to see you!"

"Yeah, but you aren't looking too good. What'd you do to yourself, doll? Fall through an air conduit?"

He's got a matching smile for her. "You'll be seeing a lot more of me. I just moved in with Shep."

"I got thrown by my horse when I was home over break. Concussion and all this lovely bruising to go with it. Whole right side is just a mess." Lana looked rueful.

She looked at him in surprise. "Really? When did this happen? Shep didn't say anything about it. But, hey that's great! It will be nice to have you here. Oh..." she bit her lip remembering where she'd been staying the past two nights.

"But you're doing better, right?"

Han shrugs and holds up the gunbelt and blaster. "About 10 minutes ago. I gotta go put my gun in the weapons locker."

"I am," Lana said firmly "Much better. And yeah, you don't want to get Rover-ed, so you'd better stow the weapon."

She hesitated, not sure if she should tell Han - ask Han - about her staying the night with Shep or just gather up her stuff while he was stowing his blaster and head back up to her room.

Han turns to go. "Lana, honey, do we need to push the beds together for a big one?" He turns his most rakish grin on her. "Shep doesn't wear peach-scented body lotion, doll. I'll see you later."

He heads down to the locker.

Lana's eyes widened in surprise and she couldn't manage to say anything at all before Han left. And then she just laughed.

Lana hears something strange - it almost sounds like horse's hooves. She gets up and goes to the door of the room where she sees a girl... riding a horse and with a monkey? Even for Fandom, this is pretty odd. "Hey," she says. "You must be one of the new students. Welcome to Fandom High. Are you on this floor?"

"Yes I am and thank you very much." Pippi responds with a grin. "Nope, we're the next one up I think. I'm in 504 and Old Man here is in 506 with Mr. Neilson."

She pats the horse and the monkey does a smart little bow.

"I'm Pippi."

"Hi Pippi, I'm Lana Lang. Hi, Old Man and Mr Neilson." She smiles at all of them. "I actually live up in the West Attic, just staying here for a few days. How are you settling in to Fandom?"

Mr Neilson doffs his hat to Lana.

"Well I'm just about to try and get settled. But so far everybody's very nice, the only thing is that none of the stores seemed to be opened when I sailed in this afternoon. Do the stores here always open so late?"

"Well, most of the school's been away on break, so I think the store's haven't been open as much. But the Emporium's usually open and there are a couple of NPC stores that are always available."

"Can I ask you another question?" she asks, "Besides that one of course... I can't say that I've never noticed such things before but..." She leans in like it's a secret. "Are all the boys here so..." she checks a paper in her pocket, "...'hot'?"

Lana laughs, "You've noticed that already, then. Yeah, most of them are really incredibly hot. I don't know how that happened, but it does make the scenery a lot nicer here."

Lisa stops by later in the evening, checking out the dorms after getting back into town fairly late.

"Lana, hey! How was your holiday?"

"Hey, Lisa, good to see you. My holidays were pretty good. Except for the part where I got thrown from my horse." Lana smiles ruefully. "How were yours?"
