Gym - Thursday during the day

A tray of cookies is set out on a spare table, as well as a few "Vote for Alanna!" stickers.

Alanna herself is beating up a punching bag and mentally trying to narrow her class choices down from six to five and which activities she will remain involved in. While she is pretty concentrated on the bag, she can be interrupted.

Feeling the fingers of chocolatey guilt and avoiding her own room, Ivanova heads to the gym to find something that could possibly be a stand-in for a certain teep.

Sadly, the punching bag was in use.

Alanna panted and turned around. "You need?"

So he had finally discovered there was a gym. Good! Alphonse's teacher back at home had hammered into his head very well that you needed to train the body just as much as you did the mind.

After all, he was getting a little bored. A little exercise sounded fun.

He walked in, noticing only two others. There was a table. With cookies. He wondered if he should take one or two. Stickers lay there as well, brightly displaying "Vote for Alanna!"

Alphonse figured he must have missed something, because he didn't know who Alanna was yet, nor did he know what to vote for.

Alanna walked over to the new guy. "Hey, I'm Alanna, help yourself to some cookies and any'n all equipment." She offered a hand to shake.

"Only if you're finished," Ivanova replied politely. "Want a sparring partner? Or not, if you're tired."

"I'm done." Alanna nodded. "I'm a bit tired, I've been here for almost an hour. Maybe another time?"

"Maybe." Ivanova grabbed the still-swinging bag to still it and nodded towards the table. "Running for re-election? I heard about the dissolution of Student Council."

"Yeah. I kind of liked it." She shrugged. "And even if I don't get re-elected, I'm still going to keep doing the Self-Defense thing and the 'hey, only I get to beat Freshman up' thing."

"Self-Defense? Are you going to sign up for that gym class or keep it to an extra-curricular basis?" She grinned a little sideways. "And I think the words, "Hey, only I get to beat insert-species-here up" have left my mouth more than once."

"Extra-curric." Alanna replied. "I think the new blood, er, people need it. You know, I got beat up on my first day at 'school' back home. These guys get a welcome wagon." Alanna pouts.

"High school was no problem the first time around," Ivanova said, backing up and taking a satisfying swing at the bag. "But my first day as a diplomat - big promotion - I wound up with a broken leg and a bruised backside."

Alanna blinked. "Okay, you say something like that? You must offer a longer explanation, or my mind will write its own ideas."

"Probably nothing half as interesting as you would invent," she said with a laugh and threw another punch. "Where I come from, there's this race, the Drazi. The way they run their political election is to divide arbitrarily into two sides and beat each other unconscious until one side wins. And guess who got assigned to try and mediate said electoral process."

Alanna winced. "That sounds nice and civil. And not at all painful."
