Second Floor Common Room [Come one, come all.]

After waiting in his room for Carter for over an hour Jack decides that he must've been blown off. Either that or that she's working on something and still thinks she has "two more minutes."

Either way Jack has decided to go watch some TV to take his mind off it all.

"Ooh hey, Jon Smith. Huh. That kinda looks like the librarian."

"Sure! You're welcome," she said magnanimously. "And yeah, disappearing or dying the first week of school would suck. You haven't even seen anyone get bit by a gremlin yet. You can't die before then."

"I understand that'll be a highlight. One of those things that one day, years from now - assuming I haven't angered you and Mr. Choo and saw my life cut short - I'll look back on and say, 'That time when Bob thought he was a bunny was hysterical.'" Peter's smile dropped as he said, "I just hope that I'm not the first gremlin victim this semester."

Not likely to happen, but they could get likely, he thought.

"That and people being punished by being forced to be in plays. That never gets old." Parker grinned. "And don't worry too much about the gremlins. They're everywhere, but you can always ask Zero for her mallet, or invest in a tennis racket. Suckers go splat quiet easily." Seh cocked her head. "So, what classes are you taking?"

[identity profile] peter--parker.livejournal.com 2006-01-08 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
"Using tennis rackets on gremlins? Sounds like it could be a fun, slightly morbid, and possibly dangerous game. I get the impression people here would enjoy it," Peter said.

"I deleted my hastily put-together list and don't really remember signed up for Sociology of Violence, Journalism, and... other stuff. I think there was a class on US Government in there. I was tired. I'll be lucky if I managed to not accidentally sign up for anything bad." Unfortunately his spider-sense didn't work when it came to scribbling on a sheet of paper.

"Grissom's good, you'll like him if you get that. And from what I've seen of Mr. Lyman, he's good too. No bad there. I haven't heard anything about Journalism, but the teacher's new this term. She can't be as weird as the last guy." Parker smirked. "And yes, Gremlin Ball is on occasion played with great ferocity, usually on the roof when we get the chance."

"I was working at a newspaper back in New York. There is no possible way this teacher can be scarier than my old boss," Peter said. "But, hey, apparently half-asleep poking at a schedule worked out for me. Thanks for the info."

"Gremlin Ball? It's the new national pasttime."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-01-08 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
"Definitely. Played with enthusiasm by their victims throughout the island." She grinned. "So I assume you want to be a reporter?"

[identity profile] peter--parker.livejournal.com 2006-01-08 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
"Really, I just worked on the paper's website, but one of the reporters was starting to take me out with him on assignment and stuff. Seemed pretty cool. I figured I might give it a shot." Peter shrugged, "Couldn't hurt."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-01-08 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, we've got a good paper, run by coffee addicts Chloe Sullivan, Alex Krycek and especially Jake Gavin. And you're supposed to have at least one activity, in order to stay here. You might sign up for that." Parker brightened. "Or, there's Investigator's Club."

[identity profile] peter--parker.livejournal.com 2006-01-08 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
"I may have to think about joining the paper," Peter said as he thought about joining the paper. "What's Investigator's Club?"

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-01-08 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
"I-Club's the one that investigates the gremlins, the Locker, and the other weirdness on the island. It's pretty big, and it just got going at the end of the semester. Professor Tick is one of the sponsors."

[identity profile] peter--parker.livejournal.com 2006-01-08 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
"I think I'll pass on that, actually. It's not really my kind of thing," Peter said, knowing that it was indeed his kind of thing. Stupid normal life decree.

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-01-08 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
Parker shrugged. "Your call. There's lots of other stuff, anyway. What floor do they have you on?"

[identity profile] peter--parker.livejournal.com 2006-01-08 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm on three," Peter said.

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-01-08 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah. Pity. Second floor rules," Parker said, smirking a little. "But feel free to come down to our common room any time. The TV's always on and tuned to something." She stretched, then smirked again. "See you around, Petey-boy. I'm going to bed."
