Sunday Evening, 3rd Floor Common Room

Walter bustled in to the common room and unpacked the items he'd just picked up down at the Emporium, tucking the wire cutters into his pocket for the time being.

He put a pot of water on to boil and pulled out a pan to begin browning the meat.

Shepherd's Pie tonight for anyone who eats meat, which in Walter's opinion, should be everyone, but he knew that not everyone was as sensible as he. They'd have to miss out since he'd neglected the makings of a salad.

[ooc: open for dinner and interaction, Walter's making a very large meal to share with his new cohabitants, since he's a bit picky about what he eats and the cafeteria food doesn't sound as though it falls under his guidelines of acceptable food.]

Alphonse turned, spotting Pip walking into the room as well. "Oh, hi! I haven't seen you since our first day here."

Pip smiled. "Yeah, I've been off in happy happy jet lag land. Spent most of the time sleeping. How have you been doing over the past couple of days?"

"Oh, pretty much the same thing. Not doing much of anything, but getting around. Except the jetlag part, I'm not sure what exactly that is."

Pip smirked. "Jet lag is when you suffer from a sudden time zone change. Like, I was on the other side of the world. When it's noon here, it's midnight there. I came from the other side of the world straight here on a flight with no time to acclimate. Thus my rythms are thrown into all sorts of crazy hell. But I'm good now. Have any trouble adjusting to the new... what was the word we used... realm?"

Alphonse blinked. "Oh! Right. I see now." He shook his head to answer his next question. "I've been a little tired, I guess. But I think that's just me being lazy." He chuckled a little.

Pip chuckles in respons. "I understand lazy all too well. So tell me about yourself, Al. I didn't get much time to talk to you on the first day." He swallows a bite of pie. "You human? That seems to be the icebreaker question 'round these parts."

"I'm as human as they get," Alphonse answered. "I guess the one thing that stands me apart is that I'm an alchemist, but that's about it. I'm pretty good with sparring, as well; my master back home drilled into our heads that sort of stuff.

So what about you? What do you do back at your home? Everyone does so many different things around here."

"Alchemy?" Pip says. "What exactly does that involve?"

Pip blinks, remembering his past. "I'm a merc. Or, I'm training to be one. I've had lots and lots of combat training. Armed, unarmed, and tactical. We'll have to spart sometime. Any particular discipline you practice?"

"Basically, it's a science." He picked out a small wooden figurine from his pocket, and then a sheet of paper (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fandomhighdorms/369270.html?thread=15476342#t15476342) that was left on the table. "It's kind of like turning one thing into another, except I can't defy any laws of nature or science. I could give you a presentation sometime."

Scratching the back of his head, Alphonse stood up. "Sparring sounds like a good idea sometime. Just let me know when you want to, and we can meet up at the gym sometime. As for now," he stretched, continuing, "I think I'll head back into my room. I'll chat with you later." Turning to Walter, he said, "And thank you for the meal."
