Janet showed up and grinned at Sam. "Are we ready to suffer?" she asked, dropping to the ground and starting to stretch.

"I hope so," Sam said, arm wrapped behind her head. "Oh, I invited one of the new guys--Peter Parker. Seems nice."

"We'd better be ready, because we're going to be doing a lot of it." She bent over her knees, legs together in front of her, stretching her hamstrings out. Another benefit of being sixteen again was the additional flexibility. "It'll be nice to meet another one of the new students."

"Yeah, no kidding." Finished stretching, Sam began to walk in small circles, just to keep her muscles loose. "Plus, first rule of being us is being able to outrun any bad guys who may be chasing you."

"He's a green Jell-o guy, but seems okay otherwise."

Janet laughed, then stood and leaned over to the side, her arm raised above her head. "First rule of being you," said Janet. "If I'm running away from the bad guys, something is very wrong." She paused, and then leaned over to the other side. "Of course, knowing us, something will go very wrong, so it's best to be prepared." She'd cite cardiovascular fitness statistics as well, but Sam would laugh at her.

"You're feeling persecuted over the blue Jell-o again, aren't you?" asked Janet.

"No, if you're standing still and mouthing off to the bad guys, something is wrong. If nothing else, you've switched bodies with Jack and need to fix that." She laughed.

"They only had red in the cafeteria yesterday, Janet! It's discrimination, I tell you. I'm gonna have to retrain an entirely new kitchen staff, and how is that fair?" She wasn't pouting. Really.

"No body switching!" exclaimed Janet, stopping to laugh. "Especially not with Jack. I think the idea is for me to keep away from the bad guys entirely, Sam."

Janet shook her head. "Blue Jell-o's been underappreciated in your eyes for years." She didn't laugh at Sam, but the look in her eyes was very amused. "But do you really want our school chef to put own interpretation on it? Maybe you can get the chicken hooked on the blue Jell-o and he'll start insisting on it."

"Yes, I think that's a brilliant idea, Janet. You, very far away from the bad guys. Yes."

"Have you tried it? It's completely different from red--so unpredictable! And there's the complete and utter lack of blue food in nature, so you know it's artificial and the taste isn't as much of a shock." Sam grinned and straightened up. "Do you think muppet chickens like Jell-o?"

"I think it's a brilliant idea to keep all of us as far from them as possible, Sam," said Janet dryly.

Janet rolled her eyes. "I've tried it. I've just never been a big fan of Jell-o in the first place. ~~Which is, of course, why you've never seen me in the mess on the series. Really.~~" She grinned at Sam. "I think you'd have to let the muppet chickens try the Jell-o and then see if they like it."

"I'd have to drop a class," Sam grumbled. "And the fact that you don't like Jell-o is almost unAmerican, Janet."

"Would it be unethical to put chicken feed into the blue Jell-o before I gave it to them? And what do muppet chickens eat, anyway?"

"I know what you mean," said Janet. Then she laughed. "Yes, that's me. Possibly the most un-American person you know, Sam."

"Very unethical," said Janet. "You should ask Marty. He's got that muppet chicken as a pet. I forget its name, though."

"I've been meaning to say something," Sam said. "Hmm. I'll have to talk to Marty. And I can't believe I've sunk so low as to consider how to bribe a muppet chicken so I get blue Jell-o." She lowered her head into her hands.

"Well, you know me," said Janet. "Time to go be seditious. You could just buy blue Jell-o and make your own, you know. That, at least, I know you can handle."

"You go with your bad self, Janet. And I already did that yesterday. There should be leftovers in the fridge."

"I may not like Jell-o as much as the rest of you," said Janet. "But I'm certainly willing to go and eat the leftovers from your hard work."

"Help yourself."

Peter hurried back to his room after US Government, changed into his sweats, and went outside to meet Sam. "Hey," he said. "I'm ready for some exercise!"

"Hey," said Janet. "I haven't met you yet, have I? Janet Fraiser."

"No, you haven't. Peter Parker," Peter said. "If you're a sophomore, please vote for me," he shilled.

"Sorry. Getting into the political groove. I think I have to work on my segues."

"You're more comfortable with them now than you were yesterday, though." Sam said. "How's the campaigning going otherwise?"

"I actually talked to a couple sophomores and bribed them with candy," Peter said. "It's an excellent campaign tool."

"Ah, bribes," Sam nodded, "A time-tested campaign technique."

She glanced quickly over her shoulder to make sure Elizabeth wasn't there, then smiled. "Er, but don't say that to Liz Weir. Or don't say you heard it from me."

"I've met her already. I'm afraid she'd quote statistics to me if I mentioned anything," Peter said.

Sam grinned. "You have met her. Ready to go?"

"Yep. Let's get started," Peter said, having failed to do any stretching whatsoever. The running from class to his room to here probably loosened him up. It had nothing to do with spider-powers.

"Sorry, I'm a junior," said Janet, grinning at him. "And yeah, your segues could use a little work."

"Segues are easier when you're giving out lollipops," Peter shrugged.

[OOC: And onto slowplay due to lunch being over.]

"I got offered brownies and lemon bars last semester," offered Janet.

OOC: Works for me.

"Did they work as campaign aides? Because if brownies worked, I can try to make brownies," Peter said.

"I don't think they were so effective as bribes," said Janet. "But they were a good way to start talking to people. You should try it."

"Talking to people doesn't seem to be a problem. I just have to walk into a common room and I get swarmed. I think it's because I'm new," Peter said. "I have to use that to my advantage. 'Hi, I'm new, here's a brownie, please vote for me!'"

"Because you should be polite when you're whoring yourself out politically."

Sam started off at a light jog, heading towards the woods for a little variety.

Janet headed off alongside Sam, glad she'd run out to the store to pick up a new pair of jogging shoes last night.

Peter was right with them. He occasionally looked up, as if running wasn't his preferred method of travel. He'd just have to adjust.

Janet's legs started to cramp up after a while. Damn, she hated being out of practice. "Liking your classes?" she asked.

Peter felt good. This was the first workout he'd gotten in a week. He could have done with something a little more rigorous ~~like brawl with a half-dozen bank robbers~~ but it was something.

"So far, so good. I have Journalism next period, so I'll have to cut this run a little short. But, yeah, classes have been interesting and the professors seem good."

Sam was a bit out of breath, but it looked like Janet was starting to struggle. "Yeah, U.S. Government was something, wasn't it? I have Quantum Physics after this, and if I don't jump into the shower, Harkness and Crichton will never let me hear the end of it."

She glanced over at Janet and slowed her pace just a bit. "You'd have loved U.S. Government, Janet. I ended up defending the importance of the military to Marty."

"It was definitely something ~~that I need to post in zomg~~. I have to say, Clarence amuses me. It was fun to see him get smacked down so hard," Peter chuckled.

"Yeah, Kawalsky and Professor Lyman were great," Sam smiled. "Marty's a good guy ~~for an ex-hired killer~~ , but he seems to be a bit of a cynic where the government is concerned."

"I'm pretty cynical about it (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fandomhigh/499872.html?thread=23117984#t23117984), too, but not nearly as bad as Marty." Peter shrugged. "Granted, it would be tough to match him."

"Oh, I want to take that class," said Janet. "I ended up signing up for Paleontology, and I don't know if one more will overload me or not."

"It's great so far," Sam said. "And the syllabus was pretty amusing."

"I've got History of Western Civ," said Janet, slightly out of breath. "Dr. Pierson's great--if you don't mind sarcasm. I've only had one bad professor, and she was asked to leave last semester. Or she left on her own. I'm not really sure which."

"Oh, I hate sarcasm. Worst thing in the world. Sarcasm should die a terrible death and nobody should attend its funeral," Peter said with a straight face.

"The important thing is that she's gone, right?"
