Just after midnight, groundskeeper's garage [NFB]

Walter had gleefully nearly given Pip a heart attack by grabbing him and jumping off the roof, wire reeling out behind them to slow there fall. The look on Pip's face had been well worth it. After waiting for the other boy to catch his breath, he had led him across the grounds to the garage where the golf carts used by the groundskeeper's staff were stored.

"I don't suppose you know how to open a lock, do you?" Walter whispered. "I sort of promised Principal Smith that I wouldn't use the wires in 'inappropriate' ways." In the grand scheme of things, not losing the wires weighed out as a higher priority than just about anything. He figured as long as his crimes were wire-free, he wasn't giving Smith a reason to rescind his permission.

Pip smirks. "You insult me, my friend." So saying, he pulls out a set of lockpicks in a cloth rool and kneels down to pick the lock. "Keep watch," he whispers.

Walter does just that, not paying attention to what Pip's doing despite his curiosity. "You're going to have to show me how to do that sometime," he whispers, watching the darkness for any movement.

Pip opens the door and slips in. "Some other time when we aren't doing something very, very, very not allowed. Pick a cart," he says.

"Maybe we can use our detention time in the Danger Shop constructively," Walter whispers, looking the carts over. "Let's just take the one closest to the exit."

"The way you're talking, we're sure to be caught," Pip says. He thinks about it for a moment. "Yeah, we're going to get caught. But it'll be worth it." He goes over to the cart, kneels down by it, and starts to dismantle it.

"Very worth it," Walter agrees and joins Pip, silently pulling the cart down into managable pieces until it's fully dissassembled.

Pip scratches the back of his head. "Alright, you hide half the parts in your room, and I'll hide half the parts in mine. What time are you open tomorrow?"
