Fourth Floor Common Room: Sunday late morning

Lana wakes up later than usual, but still earlier than she would have preferred after a *really* long day (and night!) in detention. Rather than bother the boys, she decides to grab some of her homework and a good book and go hang out in the common room. She's surprised at how achy she is after dodging grindylows and gathering gillyweed, so she decides to go for comfortable sweats and one of her "trouble" shirts.

She turns on the TV to some inane 'movie of the week' deal and curls up on the couch. She may also decide to make some more campaign posters to put up before the elections tomorrow - though with her getting detention the first week of school she's not sure how good a candidate she is anymore, despite what Professor Lyman had to say at the dance.

[Open to anyone who wants to stop by, of course.]

Allie's spent most of the weekend in her room and she decides to wander down to the common room to see if anyone is around.

"Hey, Lana, how are you?"

Lana smiles at her, "Allie! Good to see you. I'm good, just really wiped out after detention yesterday. We were there till midnight. So today... I'm vegging. What are you up to?"

"You had detention?" Allie asks, surprised. "And I'm not up to much. I spent yesterday catching up on some class work, but I have nothing going on today."

"I know, I know. Last thing anyone expects of me," Lana replied. "I went to the pool with Shep and Han and some others and next thing you know we were all skinny dipping. It just sort of happened. It's not like we *did* anything, but..."

Lana shook her head. "Anyway... we got detention and it was, well, not as bad as it could have been I'm sure, but still..."

Allie looks surprised. "Wow, I could never go skinny dipping," she says. "I can't believe you were in detention until midnight!"

Lana makes a face. "I swear Shep can talk me into just about anything. Though he's been really good about *not* talking or rushing me into certain things, if you know what I mean." She blushes. "And detention, yeah, it was long. The worst part was the last bit where we really didn't have anything to do except write lines and try desperately to stay awake."

With a faint blush, Allie nods. "Yeah, Logan was good about that, too," she shares. "And I'm really glad I didn't get detention. Which teacher was running it?"

"One of the new professors, Rita Skeeter. She actually does magic - I mean, real like turning people's tongues into bone freaky magic. Han was being Han and got into trouble with her. It kind of scared me to see her do that stuff."

Lana looked pensive for a moment. "Han's really a great guy, one of my best friends here, but when he gets his back up..."

"Wow, I still can't get used to the idea that magic and all that stuff really exists," Allie confesses. "I don't think I know Han."

Lana nods. "I know. I mean, some of the stuff doesn't phase me too much because of all the meteor weirdness from back home, but magic? Real magic? Every time I think I've sort of accepted it or gotten used to it something like yesterday happens and I realize I haven't got a clue."

"Han... Han's from the same galaxy or place that Anakin is from just different times - which is so weird to say. He's had a pretty tough life and he really shows it some times, but he's always been so good to me - really sweet. Though he does love to tease and I spend more time blushing than anything else some times." Lana smiles at the thought.

"You know? I thought it was exotic when I had a pen pal from Canada in grade school," Allie says. "To say things like "Han's from a different galaxy" and "Well, after Lilly died" are just so surreal to me. I wonder if I'll ever get used to it."

"I know! I remember when going to Metropolis seemed like going to another world. This... this is something else entirely. I don't know that I'll ever get used to it either, but I wouldn't give up the chance to experience this. The people and, well, creatures - where else could we ever be exposed to this kind of thing?"

"I don't think there is anywhere else where we'd experience this stuff. And I guess, if nothing else, I'll never be surprised by things I encounter as a doctor."

"Who knows," Lana said with a laugh. "You might end up going off to be a doctor in some other place and time with all the contacts you'll make here!"

"And it's only half a joke. It's kind of funny to think that we *could* go visit some of those times and places."
