First Floor, Monday Morning

Kiki knocks on the door of room 101, looking for John.

She happens to have a letter in her hand, addressed to him.

John opened the door. "Keeks! Hey, what's new?" He looks at her hand. "A letter?"

"Yup," she grins, holding it out to him. "And it's even for you. Fancy that."

"Well, let's see what it says."

John quickly spoke before Keeks could turn away. "You got a minute? This might be about..." He paused, then whipped out his multiool and sliced open the envelople.

"Is it..." Kiki hesitated, and changed her question. "Who is it from?"

"It's from..." John flips the envelope over, and bores his eyes at the address, as if memorizing it to every neuron. "They've found her!"




[Not sure if John's mom's grandparents are alive... been a while since I've seen the movies.

"They have?" Kiki gasps, clasping her hands beneath her chin. "Oh, John! That's wonderful! You must be so relieved - what happened? Where has she been? Where is she now? Is she okay?"

Relieved and excited, she steps closer, but stops short of trying to read over his shoulder - it is, after all, John's letter, not hers.

John reads further, skims quickly, and flips it over quickly. His face darkens and his demeanor collapses. "It's from my grandparents. They're writing to say it's been a while since they've heard from us, so they decided to write. And that my uncle John wants to visit."

"A visit? Is that a good thing or a bad thing?" Kiki asks, her joy tempered by John's sinking face.
