VICTORY PARTY! - Second Floor Common Room

The monsters are defeated, and Rory and Parker have been sprung from the clinic.

Both girls made brief stops in their rooms for candy, snack food and drinks, and piled everything on the counter of the common room kitchen.

The TV's on, sound muted, and the stero's blaring "We Are the Champions."

Come celebrate kicking their cold, white asses, people.

Peter looked at her hand. It sure was bandaged. He was very interested in the bandage as he said, "Um, I ended up outside the gym. Things got rough. I survived, though."

"That's good," Angela says. "Surviving, I mean."

"I would have been way too afraid to fight on the ground. I want to leave it to people with actual powers, y'know?"

Fine. Screw it. But everyone else would have to find out when the radio let them know. "I completely understand. That's why I was down there. I have powers."

"I didn't know that," Angela says. Once upon a time, she would have been surprised, but now? Eh.

"What kind?"

"Yeah, I was trying to keep it fairly quiet - I have my reasons - but that's kind of out the window now," Peter said.

"They're spider-based. Strength, agility, I can walk on walls. Fun stuff." He realized that when he listed them like that, it didn't really sound spidery until the walls part. Oh well.

"That does sound fun," Angela says. "But I'm just sort of generally jealous of people with powers. It makes life way easier at this school. Though I get not wanting everyone in the world to know it."

She does not ask whether he can shoot web and where from, though her mental image is pretty amusing.

"I really wanted to be normal here. I guess I am. Just not in the way I expected." Peter shrugged. He also chose not to ask her why she seemed pretty amused by something. He didn't want to know.

"Yeah ... the normal kids are the freaks at this school, kind of," Angela says, thinking about it. "But I think we're all pretty used to whatever gets thrown at us, you know?"

"I guess that makes sense," Peter agreed. "Even some people without powers were out there. Even John Crichton was down there with me. I think he got hit in the head, though. He told me he had a different name. I don't know."

Angela looks concerned until the pieces start to fall into place. "You mean Cameron Mitchell?," she offers cautiously. "They look a lot alike. Two people, though."

"Really? Huh." Peter thought for a moment. "So that's why John never got mad about me hitting him with the water gun."

"So I guess that's a deal like with Rory and Crazy Hooker? They look alike, but that's it?"

"Exactly," Angela confirms. "It drives Rory insane. Especially when the Becky person starts shooting at people." She shudders. "I'd hate to see my face on somebody else."

"Yeah, I get the impression she wasn't too happy when she found out about Crazy Hooker shooting at me and Bridge." Peter laughed a little. "Shooting at her friends. I wonder why Rory would be mad about that."

"I can't imagine," Angela says. "I'm just glad you guys managed to get out of the way, or she's a bad shot, or whatever. I once accidentally shot someone and it looked like it really hurt."

"I've been shot before," Peter said. "It does hurt. Try not to let it happen to you."

"That's actually kind of a life goal of mine, right next to "don't get run over by a bus," Angela says. "But thanks for the tip."

"You're very welcome," Peter said. "I have, for the record, avoided getting run over by a bus. That would hurt. A lot."

"But how can you know if it's never happened to you? I mean, maybe it tickles."

"Not like I'm going to rush to find out. But just in theory."

"I've been punched really hard. Didn't tickle. I'm extrapolating from my previous experience," Peter said.

"That's fair," Angela allows, tucking a piece of hair behind one ear. "So I guess I'll try ... not to get run over by a bus. Or shot. Or punched really hard."

She glances vaguely over at the food table. "I think I need caffeine. Later, Peter."

"Pretty much," Peter said. "See you later, Angela."

And with that, Peter finally got up to leave the room.
