VICTORY PARTY! - Second Floor Common Room

The monsters are defeated, and Rory and Parker have been sprung from the clinic.

Both girls made brief stops in their rooms for candy, snack food and drinks, and piled everything on the counter of the common room kitchen.

The TV's on, sound muted, and the stero's blaring "We Are the Champions."

Come celebrate kicking their cold, white asses, people.

Still wrapped in a blanket and moving a little stiffly, but thankfully no longer pale, Archie peers into the common room to see if Jaye is all right.

He'd seriously be smiling like more of a dork if it didn't kind of hurt.

"Hey," Jaye greets him, and she'd be smiling like more of a dork if she wasn't a monster killer. "You okay?"

"Not really," he says, his voice still raspy from the warm oxygen tank. "Detention got attacked. Apparently I nearly froze to death. I've only just thawed out enough to be let out of the clinic, and I really should go put myself to bed and get some rest."

He might be pulling the blanket up a little further around his face when he says, "But I wanted to make sure you were all right, too."

"I'm fine," she says, and hi with the flailing. Though whether it's because he's checking up on her or because he got hurt is kinda up in the air. It's both, really. "Do you need help? I mean, almost froze to death..."

"I just need rest," he says, flailing a little bit too. "Some warm blankets, some sleep, and I should be fine."

Except he just remembers that there's a slight problem. "Oh, damn. I volunteered my bed for one of the town refugees. At least my hammock is still in the lobby."

"Um." Jaye might go a little red. "~~I don't actually know if my roommate is back yet~~, but. Um. You could probably stay in my room. Not like... Oh my god," she facepalms.

Archie might be going a lot red. "Oh -- er, I couldn't ask you to -- I mean, really, I'll be fine in the hammock," he stammers. Even though it's obvious that the look on his face means "Ack, lobby, ZOMG COLD."

"Um. Are you sure? Because lobby, zomg cold," she says. "I mean, you almost died and stuff so it wouldn't be... Yeah."

Of course, Archie's already died so the almost-dying doesn't really bother him too much, but he's not going to mention that. "Er. With enough blankets I should be all right? I mean, I'd hate to, erm, put you out or anything like that."

"Yeah, that's not a problem. I can always steal them off my roommate, she won't complain," she says. "It wouldn't like, put me out of something." Wow, that's weird phrasing right now.

It is weird phrasing, but Archie's kind of used to that by now. "Oh, I meant enough blankets in the lobby, but, er. If you're insisting -- not that I mean to imply that you are."

Someday he might be able to make a complete sentence again.

"Oh. Um. I'm not insisting or anything, it's just... cold lobby, almost died..."

She sighs. "I'm emoing over a dead monster and you almost died and my brain can only handle so much. Yes or no on the room thing?"

"I --" People could start throwing things into Archie's mouth if he keeps it hanging open like that. So he shuts it. And turns very, very bright red. "Yes, I suppose."

"Okay. Um." She stands up. "Upstairs. Which, you know. Because you've been there before."

"I don't want to take you away from the party," he says, suddenly all with the flailing again. "Is the door unlocked?"

"I think so? I kind of left in a hurry. But I mean, I don't have to stay. You know. Because it'd be like... You know."

"A fair exchange for me walking you into town on Wednesday?" Again with the goofy smile. "You should come back and celebrate. I'd only be poor company, being asleep."

"Yeah, maybe," Jaye says, smiling again. "I'll decide when... Yeah. I'll walk you up at least."

"I think we can agree on that," replies Archie, smiling right back. "Shall we?"

"Yeah," she says, and comes on over to escort him to her room.

Archie's hand might be poking out from under the blanket to take hold of hers on the way, too.

And Jaye might just take it.
