VICTORY PARTY! - Second Floor Common Room

The monsters are defeated, and Rory and Parker have been sprung from the clinic.

Both girls made brief stops in their rooms for candy, snack food and drinks, and piled everything on the counter of the common room kitchen.

The TV's on, sound muted, and the stero's blaring "We Are the Champions."

Come celebrate kicking their cold, white asses, people.

Rory froze.

"Oops," she said softly.

"Oops?" Anakin repeated. "What?"

"I think I know where the coffee mug came from," Rory said, biting her lip.

"The roof," Anakin replied promptly. He looked at Rory. "You know who threw it?"

"Someone who has horrible aim and was throwing mugs," Rory said, slumping lower. "Do you know if she's okay?"

"Last I saw she and Shep were hobbling off to the clinic together, so I don't know. I was going to check on her tomorrow." Anakin looked hard at Rory. "Why?"

"Might've been me. An accident. I had no idea I hit anything but monsters, but I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who was throwing mugs," Rory said guiltily, slouching more.

Anakin put a hand over his face. "Whoops. Um, you're not the first person to have damaged someone in friendly fire?" He gave her a wry smile. "Chocolates might be a good idea, though."

He gave her hand a reassuring squeeze under the blanket.

Rory sank lower. "There'll be chocolate. And massive, massive apologies. But lots of chocolate. I've stocked up, so that's not an issue."

She covered her face with her free hand, and returned the squeeze. "And I was all happy that I hadn't hurt anyone. Damn it."

"It's okay," he said. "She was out there fighting for a long time after she got hit. If it had been serious, she would have left for the clinic immediately."

He decided not to mention the adrenline rush that happened in battle that made people ignore injuries. Rory felt badly enough.

He rested his free hand on her leg. "So what was the ruling on your knee? Stay off it for how long?"

Rory shrugged with her good shoulder, not exactly feeling better about Sam, but also too tired to dwell on it when given an out.

"It's just bruised up. Dr. Pevensie bandaged it so I can't move it. Mostly it just hurts to support weight on it because it's tender. So...not very long, I expect. It's a bad bruise, though. Much worse than the one on my shoulder. I also bruise way too easily. Goes with the complexion."

"When you're ready to head to your room, let me know. I'll help you hobble," he said with a smile. "The bruise on my shoulder was turning a very nice shade of purple when I was looking at it in the shower earlier. Those snowmonster things threw hard."

"We'll have to compare," Rory noted. "They really didthrow hard. And I'm pretty sure those snowballs had chunks of solid ice in them. So ow."

"Totally ow," Anakin said, covering his mouth as he yawned. "Don't mind me," he said, closing his eyes. "I'm just resting for a minute. Fighting that long kind of took a lot out of me."

"I'm sorry," Rory said softly, lightly running her thumb across his hand. "I've been keeping you awake." She blinked a bit sleepily. "I've been keeping me awake, too. Or adrenaline has been."

"It's okay," Anakin murmured, his eyes still closed. "You ready to head out now?"

"Uh huh," Rory said, watching him through half-lidded eyes. "Unless you don't feel like moving. We can sleep here."

Anakin opened his eyes. "No, sleeping sitting up would just make the muscle aches that much worse tomorrow. I want to be in a bed. With more blankets. And no boots on."

He patted her leg. "Time to go."

Rory gave his hand a final squeeze before sitting up and moving her leg from his lap, simultaneously pulling the blanket over so she could carry it.

She stood up, pushing off from the couch for support, and wobbled slightly before standing solidly. Granted, there was no weight on her left leg, but still. Much better than earlier. Go Rory.

Anakin stood up, trying not to wince at all of the muscles that had tightened up while he had been sitting.

He put his arm around Rory's waist. "Off we go, then," he said. "Lean on me."

Rory did as she was told. And totally did not feel gleeful at the fact that they were getting away with being kind of cute in public.

"Oh," she said softly, looking up at him and dropping her voice to a whisper. "Vladdie would probably like you to stay over. You know how he gets about the dark."

Anakin nodded. "And after the day he's had, I'd hate for him to be upset."

He lowered his voice, too. "And it's not like my legs are all that excited about two more flights of stairs tonight."

"He has had a traumatic day, yes," Rory nodded in solemn agreement. "And really, you need rest. So it's my duty to ensure that you're getting that rest, and not attempting an extra pair of flights of stairs, really."

They arrived in front of her door. "Well this works out nicely then, doesn't it?" he said, smiling.

"Funny, that," Rory smirked before opening the door and waving him.
