School Beautification Committee meeting -- Fourth Floor Common Room, 7:00 PM FST

Bel hurried to the fourth floor common room, having almost forgotten the stupid School Beautification meeting. Oh well, might as well try to get some fun out of it, especially with the crew he'd been saddled with.

"All right," he said when the others had arrived, "we'll do an official sign-in, then I want to hear how you define beauty and any ideas you have toward applying that to the school." Bel smirked. "Don't hold back."

"Yeah, maybe we could try and make a special smoking section, where smokers and non-smokers can eat lunch together without, y'know, dying."

"That sounds like a good idea, if not as much fun as topiary."

"A patio area?" Archie suggests. "It would be an option besides inside the lunch room. And there could be topiary."

"That sounds good." Walter nodded enthusiastically. "Not that I would have wanted to be on the patio this weekend."

"Oh, weather permitting, of course," Archie agrees. "It could serve different purposes, as well, at various school functions. Small dances, club meetings, and so forth."

"We could make it like an ampatheatre. Like in Greece and rome... But we could use tiered sections of grass instead."

"Maybe we could see about making that an extra-credit gardening project."

"That would be useful if anyone wanted to stage a small dramatic production, wouldn't it?"

"Or we could have people play music during lunch... Or whatever."

"Well, performances of some kind or other, yes?" Archie says amiably. ~~"Or convenient places to make scathing and embarrassing announcements about fellow students."~~

"Annika and Tommy used to talk about something called 'Pep Rallys' ~~Where fellow students are often put in embarrassing situations so there you go~~. Do we have those here?"

"What's a topiary?"

"Shrubbery sculpted into different shapes. It's very traditional."

"Oh, cool! Maybe we should make a snowman shrub, just to be funny."

"That would be easy enough. I could probably make a zombie, too. Commemorate great events in Fandom history."

Anders likes this idea. "Hey, there could be, like, little gremlin-shaped flowerbeds and stuff."

Walter considers how that could be done. "Gremlins are green. There are traditional English plantings that we could use for that. They'd be fragrant."

Walter is now really getting into the idea of many touches of traditional English garden. And cutting things up to get there.

"I was gonna ask that too, dude," Anders mutters to Victor. "But pretty-boy over there doesn't need more reasons to snark at me."

"Pretty boy?" Victor muttered back.

"Kennedy, with the ponytail and fancy jacket. Whatever he says about me? Don't listen to 'im."

"Why, do you have a crush on him? I can talk to him for you, if you want."

Anders's eyes go wide. "Dude! Dude, dude, no. Didn't mean it like that. I got a girlfriend, anyway." There might be a little flailing.

Victor shrugged as much as his sore shoulder would allow. "It's cool. You just said that he was pretty, so I was wondering. My mistake."
