Firing Range, Wednesday after lunch

Pip is leaning against a weapons locker in the firing range, looking bored and wishing he had two hands so that he could light a cigarette.

Angel and his unnamed friend should be by soon.

"Need to borrow," Angel said. "I don't own any guns. I'm used to doing it the old fashioned way."

"Gotcha," Pip said as he opened up the locker. Angel's eyes were greeted with Pip's ample gun supply, which included no less than two assault rifles, three submachine guns, a sniper rifle, and a wide variety of pistols and revolvers. Pip picked up a nine millimeter automatic and held it out to Angel. "We'll start with handguns. Easy to learn, easy to use, easy to conceal. Plus, I don't need both hands to help you learn it."

Angel handled the gun with no sign of nerves. "I've used one of these before. Wouldn't mind the practice though, so yeah, lemme do a few rounds with this."

Pip grabbed a clip and tossed it to angel. "Alright, vampire-boy. Let's see what you've got."

Angel caught the clip. He got ear and eye protection more because he didn't want to get yelled at by administration than because he actually needed them.

That done, he loaded the gun, aimed, and fired until the clip was empty.

He frowned when he saw his target. "I always pull to the left. I hate that."

Pip frowned. "Hmmm, do another one," he said, grabbing a clip and tossing it to Angel.

Angel caught it, loaded, and tried again. This time his shots were tighter but still pulled to the left.

"You'd think I'd be able to hit the heart without a problem," Angel said.

Pip walked over and handed him another clip. "Load it again and get ready to shoot, but don't actually shoot yet."

Angel did as Pip asked, holding his stance without firing.

Pip adjusted Angel's stance with his left hand. "Remember to squeeze, not pull. And don't count on your super-vampire strength to eliminate all recoil for you. When you can, always shoot with both hands," he said as he adjusted. "Only shoot with one hand if you absolutely have to or if you're trying to use two handguns at once. Otherwise, both hands on the gun." He stepped back. "Alright, try again."

"Least I don't have to worry about breathing," Angel said. He fired two handed. The aim was better but he didn't look happy. "I'm more comfortable with one. Too much of a righty."

Pip nodded. "Believe me, I know exactly what you mean. Consider youself lucky, though. I had a mean Scottish bastard who'd smack me everytime he caught me shooting with one hand without his permission. Keep it up and then we'll see about improving your one-handed firing."

"Had much luck with demons and guns?" Angel asked, curious.

Pip shrugged. "Haven't had a chance yet. I think. Though there was that one guy I shot in the head who got back up again, but I'm pretty sure I was hallucinating, 'cause the guy was wearing a priest's stole and you don't find a lot of priests in Uganda." He tilted his head to the side slightly. "Shouldn't blessed bullets hurt 'em, theoretically?"

Angel thought about it. "Depends on the priest. If he's already holy, a blessed thing probably isn't going to hurt anything."

Pip shrugged. "True. Like I said, I think I was hallucinating." He nodded towards the target. "Keep practicing with the two handed stance."

"Could've been a demon," Angel said. He tried the two handed stance again. As before, he did better than he did one handed.

"Don't think so," Pip said. "He seemed pretty devout. Kept screaming about heretics and blasphemeres while cutting soldiers apart with these huge bayonets. Weird stuff." He watched Angel. "How much experience have you had with other guns? And bend your right arm a bit."

"Can be a demon and be devout," Angel said. He bent his right arm. "Some. They're fun for torture, don't do much to kill. Not what I aim at."

Pip shrugged. "I still think it was a hallucination, anyway. Try shooting again."
