Outside Room 238, After Fourth Period

Sam knocked on the door, ready to help set up for that evening. After all, they needed somewhere to store the extra party snacks, right?

She looked at her To Do list:

Weapons Drop Off/Pick Up
First Aid/Medical Area
Comms
--Laptops
--Cell Phones
--Ear Pieces

Time to get to work.

As the door opened, Hawkeye had been on his way back to check on Callisto. He didn't bump into Cameron, but he did stop just short. A quick once over told him that that shoulder wasn't where it was supposed to be. "That looks uncomfortable. Wait a minute out here, will you? I'll be right back." He ducked inside to check Callisto's vitals and then re-emerged.

"I'm fine," Cameron insisted, although it really didn't sound convincing.

He closed the door quietly behind him and stepped out into the corridor. "Your shoulder is hanging out of its socket. I wouldn't exactly call that fine, but you're doing better than some of your friends." He looked up and down the corridor. "Do you have a room on this floor? I doubt you'd want to do this out in the open."

Too tired to argue and not to mention sore, Cameron nodded and motioned down the hall. "226. It should be empty, Vala's at the party." He winced and hoped they hadn't found out what was really going on yet.

Hawkeye led the way to 226 and waited as Cameron let them inside. Once the door was open, Hawk stepped inside and looked around. "Nice posters. Take a seat. I'm Hawkeye, by the way. Doctor Pierce if it makes you feel more comfortable considering what I'm about to do to get your shoulder back in place. So. What's your name and what did Fandom's illustrious vampires do to bring you to my attention this fine evening?"

Cameron sat down on the bed and rubbed the bruise on his cheek. "Cameron Mitchell, sir. I got body-slammed into a wall by the firt vampire we came across. I think they like walls, because the other one did a repeat performance when he got my shoulder."

Hawkeye nodded. "Well Cameron, you've had a busy night. I'll put your shoulder back in first, and then you can take your shirt off so I can have a look at your ribs." He gestured for Cameron to stand up. "I won't lie to you. This is going to hurt. You're messing with some nerves that are pretty defensive about their peace and quiet. Try to relax as much as you can, it'll make it easier to put the shoulder back where it belongs."

"Yes, sir." Cameron nodded. "Trying to relax, sir." Which really was easier said than done. His shoulder was hurting and he was trying not to pay attention to the rest of his body, but it left him anything but relaxed.

"You don't have to call me sir, Cameron. Thankfully, I haven't been in the Army for a long time. Call me Hawkeye. If you keep calling me sir, I'm going to start calling you Airman." He gestured towards the godmodded Air Force poster on the wall. "Relax." Hawkeye took hold of Cam's arm and swung it lightly a few times to loosen up the muscles. Then he performed a few swift movements and the shoulder was back in place.

That would have hurt like a bitch.

"Joseph. Mary," Cameron cursed. It was either that or cry out and have the entire floor gather.

"Christ," he finished, still panting and closing his eyes as if he could will it away. "I don't mind Airman, sir." He managed to get out finally.

"I was kidding." He stepped back from Cameron. "You did good. Your shoulder's back where it should be, but it's not as easy as that. The entire area is inflammed and you need to give it a few days rest to let the nerves settle down and the swelling to go away. You should be fine until morning provided you don't go running off. I'll make you a sling when I go and get my gear. How about your head? Any dizziness, blurred visions, black outs?"

"So no sparring?" Cameron realised he was clutching the sheets with his good hand and slowly let go to touch the back of his head. "Just one hell of a headache. I think I bumped my head somewhere during the fight."

Re: Afterwards -CAMERON

[identity profile] drywitmartini.livejournal.com 2006-02-04 01:18 pm (UTC)(link)
He pulled out his penlight and tilted Cameron's head up to check his pupils. Once he was done with that, he put the penlight back in his pocket and used his fingertips to feel for any bumps or breaks in the skin on his head. "You've got a little bump on the back of your head, but that's to be expected. I'm not worried though. If you feel any dizziness, nausea or blurred vision, I want you to call me though, just to make sure. Sometimes concussion can wait a day before it hits you and it's not something to take lightly. But you should be fine. How about your rib area? Any difficulty breathing or sharp pains? Even dull pains?"

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-02-04 01:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"No," Cameron unconsciously rubbed a hand over his chest. "Just some bruises, I got lucky. I think it was more interested in biting than banging me up."

Re: Afterwards -CAMERON

[identity profile] drywitmartini.livejournal.com 2006-02-04 01:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Hawk nodded. "Anything else? Telling me about a twinge today can save you from a reset bone and cast tomorrow."

Cameron raised an eyebrow, but grinned tiredly. "Just my wrist, I think," he wanted to hold it up, but quickly reconsidered as his shoulder didn't agree with the movement.

Re: Afterwards -CAMERON

[identity profile] drywitmartini.livejournal.com 2006-02-04 01:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Taking Cameron's wrist gently, Hawkeye had a closer look. "Can you move it like this?" He waited for a positive response. "How about like this?" Another positive response. "Wiggle your fingers?" Good again. "Well, it's not broken. It's probably just bruised. If it's still hurting in a week, talk to me and I'll take another look. You were lucky tonight, Cameron. Don't make a habit of playing hero. Eventually your luck will run out and you'll have more to deal with than a bruised wrist, a dislocated shoulder and a bump to the head."

Re: Afterwards -CAMERON

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-02-04 01:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Cameron looked up at Hawkeye as he replied softly. "It was worth it, sir. Even if Darla got away. I'll just pray it will be worth it then as well."

Re: Afterwards -CAMERON

[identity profile] drywitmartini.livejournal.com 2006-02-04 01:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"I hope you're right." Hawkeye let go of his wrist and stepped back. He scratched at the top of his head absently. "I'll go and get you that sling."

Re: Afterwards -CAMERON

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-02-04 01:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"Thank you, sir." He'd normally get up and offer to save Hawkeye the walk, but right now he wasn't sure his legs wanted to cooperate.

Re: Afterwards -CAMERON

[identity profile] drywitmartini.livejournal.com 2006-02-04 02:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Hawkeye left the room for a few minutes and came back with the makings of a sling and a small sample bottle. He handed the sample bottle to Cameron and then crouched down to make the sling. He tied it around Cameron's neck and then helped to ease his arm into place. "Unless you're sleeping, leave it like that for a few days. Try not to use it until after the weekend, but even then keep your use limited for about a week. After that, ease back into it and build yourself up. You don't want to jump the gun too fast or you could end up with some serious nerve damage and a recurring problem if you don't let the ligaments heal. Something like that could ruin a guy's career before it even got started." Hawkeye pointed to the plastic bottle. "Anti-inflammatory painkillers. Heavy duty stuff too. Every four hours. Don't take more than two at a time and don't take more than 8 in one day. They can mess with your liver, so go easy on them."

Re: Afterwards -CAMERON

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-02-04 02:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"One every four hours. No body building for at least a week," Cameron nodded as he picked up the bottle. "Got it. Thanks for the help, sir."

"I'm downstairs if you need anything. Room 114." Hawkeye headed to the door. "The best thing you can do for yourself is try to get some sleep." He waved and headed out, closing the door behind him.

Sleep sounded really good, but he needed to find Vala and see if she was alright. He needed a shower first, though, because he was sure he smelled like sewer and his muscles were telling him the water would do him good. Painkillers first, though.
