First Floor Lobby [Friday Night]
It's been a quiet day and Fraser's very grateful for that. This time, last week, there was snow and power outages and a foul mouthed firefighter standing next to him.
This week, the lobby is quiet. He's taken to reading one of his borrowed library books when...
A student. Just one student whizzing by and Fraser returns to his book.
Another student. And two more. Fraser eyes them curiously and wonders if there was a school event that he'd missed the memo on.
After several other students exit the dormitory, Fraser frowns and puts the book down.
Something was up.

He hissed at the wolf. "Back off, fluffy."

In response to the hiss, Dief growls quietly.

He takes it gingerly from the Mountie's hand and turns it over in his own. "Cool. Never been much of a hat man myself - tend to smoosh my hair. But never let it be said that I can't appreciate a fine hat on another man's head."

"I doubt this hat would smush your hair," Fraser says, smiling. He points to his own hair. "Mine's not flattened, is it? And feel free to be honest."

He looks up at the smiling Mountie. And momentarily wonders what the question was. "No, you seem to have smoosh-proof hair," he answers after a second. "My ex-roomie's the same way; you could probably drop an anvil on his head and not damage the 'do."

He places it carefully on on his head, though he still manages to knock Faithful's tail in the process.

Fraser steps back and eyes the hat on Xander's head. It's slightly crooked. So, to correct that, Fraser reaches out and adjuts the hat on Xander's head, making it straight and exactly perpendicular to the floor.
"That looks very good on you." Fraser nods. "You've never worn a hat such as this before?"

"An official law-enforcement type hat? Um, that'd be no. Various fine instant dining establishments, yes, which are definite hair-smushers. In fact I kind of suspect they make them that way on purpose, so their employees stay dateless and depressed and more willing to work in minimum wage hell, and -- er. It looks good?"

Fraser smiles and nods at Xander. "It does. You've got the right shape of head so that the hat doesn't slip down, doesn't slip off. It fits precisely."
"I gather if workers in the fast food industry wore hats with durable material, such as mine, hair wouldn't be as messed up and stains would be cut to a minimum."
