First Floor Lobby [Friday Night]

It's been a quiet day and Fraser's very grateful for that. This time, last week, there was snow and power outages and a foul mouthed firefighter standing next to him.

This week, the lobby is quiet. He's taken to reading one of his borrowed library books when...

A student. Just one student whizzing by and Fraser returns to his book.

Another student. And two more. Fraser eyes them curiously and wonders if there was a school event that he'd missed the memo on.

After several other students exit the dormitory, Fraser frowns and puts the book down.

Something was up.

Faithful groaned. "Are you always this thick or is today special for me."

He hissed at the wolf. "Back off, fluffy."

Xander stares at the hat like somebody's just invented Twinkie Pie (That, um, actually tastes good and doesn't turn to mush when you try to bake it, not that he ever did. Really.) and offered him a piece.

He takes it gingerly from the Mountie's hand and turns it over in his own. "Cool. Never been much of a hat man myself - tend to smoosh my hair. But never let it be said that I can't appreciate a fine hat on another man's head."

Faithful's full attention was now on the wolf. "Come on fluffy, really, no need to bother me tonight. I'm just a nice small cat who isn't going to bother you if you don't bother me." He hissed to punctuate the last word.

Xander finds it... actually a bit easier to take his eyes off the hat now that it's in his hands. Huh.

He looks up at the smiling Mountie. And momentarily wonders what the question was. "No, you seem to have smoosh-proof hair," he answers after a second. "My ex-roomie's the same way; you could probably drop an anvil on his head and not damage the 'do."

Xander turns the hat -- when did it stop being a Hat? Does the Mountie have magical capitalization powers that only work when he's actually touching something? -- over in his hands. "I guess I could. Hat from the ice cream truck last summer always did a pretty good smushing job, but obviously there's a recycled paper vs. fine Canadian workmanship difference there."

He places it carefully on on his head, though he still manages to knock Faithful's tail in the process.

Faithful scowled at the hat. "I take it back. You two are birds of a feather. Nutty birds of a feather."

Xander is a little busy trying to deal with the sudden shift to having a Hat on his Head, thanks to the nifty capitalization powers.

"An official law-enforcement type hat? Um, that'd be no. Various fine instant dining establishments, yes, which are definite hair-smushers. In fact I kind of suspect they make them that way on purpose, so their employees stay dateless and depressed and more willing to work in minimum wage hell, and -- er. It looks good?"

Faithful rolled his eyes. "You're on all crack." He snarled at the wolf. "And you try that again and I'm turning you into a she-wolf."
