First Floor Lobby: Sunday evening...

MacGyver is in the first floor lobby.

He has a swiss army knife, duct tape and some chewing gum.

Chances are? He's up to something.

A monotone voice is heard.

"Initializing security protocols..."

Nadia flinched. "That . . . doesn't sound good."

"We're friends! Friendlies! Allies! Something!" What the hell, worth a try.

Pip grimaced. "And suddenly my impetus to be curious ever again is killed," he muttered.

"Please identify yourself and your intentions."

"Uh. Hi. I'm MacGyver and I'm a professor here at school. I was told there might be some equipment down here we could use?"

"I'm afraid I can't do that Dave."

Nadia raised her hand, then felt kinda foolish. "Um, he said his name is MacGyver. Not Dave."

Pip leaned over to Nadia. "I'm not sure the computer cares," he whispered.

"Can't do what?" Parker asked, her voice sharp. "Specifically."

"My purpose is to safeguard this room until Marshall returns. Nothing will leave this room until he gets back.

"Oh, crap." Parker glared at Professor MacGyver. "You're the grown-up. How do we get out of this!"

"Okay, that's really not good."

"Now Hal... there's no reason to get your circuits in a twist. Marshall left school last term and will not be returning."

"My programming was very specific in this matter sir. I'm afraid that you will remain here until Marshall returns."

"Sir?" Pip whispered to MacGuyver. "I'd like to take this time to propose a plan I like to call "blowing the damn thing up"."

Parker stared at Pip, then put a hand over her face. "I think Hal can hear you," she whispered back, then, in a normal voice, "And it was funny! It really was!"

"I'm afraid I don't understand the joke. Will you explain it to me?"

"Really?" Nadia blinked, then on a whim started fluttering her eyelashes coyly. "But you seem like such a very intelligent, um, security system."

"Ahh. Because, of course, we would never, ever hurt you, Hal," Parker said in a soothing tone. "So that was irony. Cool, hunh?" She glared at Pip.

Pip nodded. "I mean, the very idea that we would want to destroy such a friendly, intelligent, and elegant program such as yourself is so blatantly rediculous that it's laughable!"

"A fine computer like yourself shouldn't be imprisoned down here guarding some geek's comic book collection. We have a nifty environment up in the shop classroom that you would probably enjoy better."

Parker suddenly lit up. "And! I have a small game computer, an xBox, that's very lonely. She needs a friend. I know she'd love being able to interact with someone with so much computing ability." She pouted at Hal's eyebeam. "But she isn't mobile. I'd have to bring her to you."

"My PS2 is very lonely as well," Pip said. "And we French have a concept called 'menage trois' that I'm sure she'd love to teach you and the xBox about."

Nadia nodded quickly. She didn't have any electronics to offer, sadly, but she'd do what she could.

"And, um, we'll visit you, too. Every day. Lot's of people go into the shop, so you'll have lots of important things to protect and people to talk to!"

Please let this work. She did not want to end up spending even the night down here.
