Trying to ignore everyone coupling off all over the damn school, Sam turned on the Aaron Echolls film festival and prepared to lose herself in the movies. She had a large bowl of popcorn and bottle of diet coke and settled into one of the chairs.

Of course, she was immensely interruptable.

Sam shook her head, smiling slightly. Possibly not gay, then. "No, I haven't. What does the interface do? Will it change how the Danger Shop works?"

"Simpler to use for one. No more remote controls. Plus Hal will only respond to a teacher or you since you are a TA," Mac replied, momentarily distracted by the image of Lynn Echolls in a bathing suit on the TV because OMG NOT GAY. It's the hair isn't it. Should have never given up the mullet.

"So it's voice activated? Cool." Sam was amused as Mac was distracted by the woman in the bathing suit. "Is there a training course or something I could read? Trust me? The mullet? Did not make you look less gay."

"There's a couple of manuals in the shop by a guy name Chandra who originally built the thing. Lord knows how that Marshall kid got a hold of it," Mac said still looking at the image of Lynn. "Don't try to argue with HAL too much though. He's got a bit of an attitude."

Did the mullet make him more gay? Because I've never seen a gay man with a mullet.

"No arguing with the attitudinal computer, check."

Well, not any more, but during the mullet's heyday, gay people weren't as open, so you may have. Maybe the mullet is a zero sum kind of thing?

"Yeah, and if he calls you "Dave"? It's best just to let it go," Mac said finally tearing his eyes of the television, "So how are classes going for you this term? Do anything interesting this term?"

"If he calls me Dave, I think I've got bigger problems," Sam smirked, "and they're going okay. Quantum Physics isn't quite what I expected, but they're interesting. Professor Tick has some of the most unique classes I've ever been in."

"Yeah, he's an interesting guy. I almost tried out to be his sidekick way back when I was still a student here," Mac says in a somewhat nostalgic tone. "But then my grandfather got sick and I had to leave FH to go take care of him."

"You almost tried out to be his sidekick?" She chuckled, "I didn't know that. I made the utility belt for his current one--she's got a stapler holster and everything."

She looked over at him, concerned, "Your grandfather? It's nice that you could go home and take care of him. A lot of people wouldn't do that."

"Yeah, I had a costume worked out and everything. I was going to be the Swiss Army Avenger," Mac said shaking his head at his youthful self. "And my grandfather was a pretty cool old guy. He taught me a lot about using my head and a lot of the tricks that I've used over the years to get me out of trouble. I miss him a lot."

Mac gives Sam a grin. "Let that be a lesson to you Ms. Carter. Enjoy your relatives while you still can and they are still around. I'm sure your aunt here in school would love a visit from you."

Sam giggled at the idea of the Swiss Army Avenger. "I bet you'd have been a great superhero, Mac. And it's great that you had that extra time with him--I know I'd give almost anything for another day with either of my parents."

"Oh, I'm sure she would," Sam said, tightly, "and it turns out I have a thing or two I need to speak with her about, anyway." Like, for instance, what she wanted with Lee Adama besides the obvious, of course.

"If I see her tomorrow in the faculty lounge, I'll let her know that you said 'Hi' and that you're looking for her," Mac says oblivious to Carter's tone of voice.
