Dorm Roof, Tuesday Night

Edward is sitting out on the roof, a cup of coffee close at hand and a notebook on his lap. The notebook is closed, and the pen is still tucked in the spiral. The sky's far more interesting than his notebook anyway.

Sakura raised her eyebrows a moment, her mouth forming a little 'o'. She grinned slyly. "Notes? For what, Chemistry?" She sets her bear down and reaches to the side, picking up the notebook and holding it away from herself slightly. "You're always taking notes, what could possibly be so important?" She knew that the contents of this notebook were more than just Chemistry notes, if Chemistry notes at all. So perhaps a little chase to retrieve them would get Ed's reasons for sulking out of him.

Bingo.

Sakura scooted to the side just out of reach, then stood up quickly. She had this sort of mischevious grin on her face that wasn't quite normal for her behavior. "Ah-hah!" She said, holding the notebook above her head to ensure that he would have a hard time retrieving it. "If it's just notes, then why's it a problem?"

Sakura laughed. If he actually thought she believed that, he wasn't as smart as she thought he was. "What do you care about classified?" she asked. "And if it's Chemistry, how is it sensitive?" She hopped backward a few steps.

"I wouldn't understand it anyway," Sakura argues. "So what's the harm? I'm just curious." She moves backward again, turning around and pretending to open the notebook whilst still watching him over her shoulder.

Sakura claps the notebook closed again and turns to face him, putting her arms behind her back -- which thus made the notebook follow.

"Really, though." She said, suddenly a little less silly. "...what's in this that you don't want anyone seeing?"

Sakura suddenly stopped grinning entirely, and instead looked rather ill. Al, he said. She didn't even seem to notice he'd taken the notebook back.

Something told her he didn't mean the 'Alphonse-kun' that she knew.

Sakura suddenly felt really bad for waving his notebook around like it was nothing. That certainly explained what was bothering him.

Without much in the way of warning other than stepping up to him, Sakura fidgeted for a brief moment before brushing his bangs away from his face and touching her lips to his forehead. She meant it as more of a comforting gesture than anything else, really. "I'm sorry," she said, and kept one hand resting in his hair.

Sakura sighed against the knot growing in the pit of her stomach. She had no idea what to tell him, and that was probably harder than the fact that she'd almost blown his cover. She hushed him, leaning away from him just slightly and framing his face with both her hands. "Shh. You're not an idiot," She shook her head at him and absently ran one thumb over his face. "And you're doing a hell of a lot better in this situation than I would be." She tapped her forehead against his, closing her own eyes. She honestly had no idea what to say.

"I'm sorry," Sakura repeated, shaking her head.

She couldn't believe she'd nearly breached his privacy without his permission that way. What if she'd started reading one of them out loud without realizing what she was reading?

She sighed again and stepped back from him, keeping her hands on his shoulders. "Next time, let me know something's up so I don't pull something stupid like that?"
