Dorm Roof, Tuesday Night

Edward is sitting out on the roof, a cup of coffee close at hand and a notebook on his lap. The notebook is closed, and the pen is still tucked in the spiral. The sky's far more interesting than his notebook anyway.

"I wish I could say," Alphonse murmured. "But-- no..." he wrapped his arms around his legs, thinking intently. "The easiest thing would be to just tell him, but it's how he'd feel I don't know. That probably sounds silly coming out of me, doesn't it?" He turned his sight to the side, gazing out at the town below. "I'm sorry... I always seem to cause you problems."

Alphonse opened his mouth to say something, but decided against it. He sat for a moment longer, the looked back up at Edward guiltily. "It... probably wouldn't be a good idea." he replied finally. "To say anything about me, at least. I don't want to ruin anything for you, and neither one of us knows how he'd feel about this..."

"You don't have to lie, it's just a matter of not bringing it up," Alphonse suggested. He blinked or a moment, then slipped out a laugh at himself. "And this is coming from someone who hates it when you keep stuff from me. But I think we can both very well agree this is a different situation."

Alphonse wondered when that would be; he shifted uneasily at the thought when the two of them would have to seperate again. "I hope it turns out okay, then." He began to fiddle with the small box in his hands again. "Sorry, I wish I could be a little more helpful."

She hadn't wanted to intrude, the boys needed to have a chat -- but she hadn't particularly felt like going back inside, either. So, settling for somewhat of a happy medium, Sakura had wandered off to sit on the edge of the roof with her legs dangling off the edge, hugging her oversized teddy bear to herself. Every now and again, she laughed at how silly she must have looked.

But then she started to realize that holy crap, it was cold. February nights on the East Coast in a skirt? Good way to get permanent goosebumps.

She eyed the boys for a minute and frowned. They'd talked enough, hadn't they?

Yes, yes they had.

She got awkwardly to her feet and wandered over to them, standing near Ed's head and leaning over to look at his face. "...'kay not to be rude and interrupt you guys or anything," she says blandly. "But it's frikking freezing out here, and I'd like to go inside. I'd prefer if you two came with so I wouldn't have to worry about what you were up to." She absently squeezed the bear to herself, smiling at it again.

Sakura, being the loveably oblivious thing that she was, had no idea why Edward had just thrown himself to stand like he were being attacked by Zepplins. Again.

"Whuh, what?!" she yelped, backpedaling. After the residual OMGWTF had worn off, she took the time to notice Ed's face and its splendidly flourescent hue. She bliked. "...um," Tilting her head, she raised one eyebrow. "Are you all right?"

It took everything Alphonse had and more to hold in his snickering, and even then failed to do so. He turned his head and covered his face in badly concealed laughter. "Sure thing," he replied through his laughing. He stood up and brushed himself off with a grin still plastered on his face.

Good thing he wasn't within the close-up view.

Sakura eyed Alphonse oddly, frowning.

"You guys are wierd," she stated, squeezing the bear. It still needed a name. Squishy. Confused, and quite possibly a trifle distressed by the boys' strange behavior -- had she interrupted them, after all? -- Sakura made a point of giving them ample space as she headed for the door.

They need to come out with a book on "Understanding Teenage Boys". ...and perhaps make an addendum: "Understanding Elrics".

Alphonse simply shook his head and smiled innocently.
