Fourth Floor Common Room - Saturday Afternoon

After hamming it up at play auditions, Shep brings the ferrets down to the common room for a change of scenery. He has his US History homework and his computer with the Sims on it. After channel surfing for a while he ends up with the VH1 Top Twenty Countdown on the t.v.


Come on in to bother him, but watch where you sit. :)

"I know you'd listen," he tells her, "But I'm not sure you'd believe me. I'm not sure I believe me - er... believe them... that I'm supposed to.. when my time comes. It's complicated. And strange. And it has to do with glowing squid."

He's pretty sure that last part is not going to help him get out of this conversation.

"I'd believe you," she said simply. "You know that. And really, after a line about glowing squid...? You totally have to tell me the rest."

Shep sigs and then says so fast that it's almost one word, "When some people die they ascend - they shed their physical form and live as pure energy and you have to be good and pure and all that other crap to do this but it's not an 'angel' thing and a few women people who had or were ascending said that I could ascend too but I chose not to."

Lana looks at him intently. "So kind of like beings of light, in a way? They have to work to become good people to ascend and then they move on?"

She smiled at him. "It doesn't surprise me at all that they'd say you could ascend too. Though I'd kind of prefer that you not do it anytime soon."

She hesitates, wanting to ask, but not wanting to push too far. "And they're at Atlantis - where the aliens without clothes are? And where you go to the mainland to lie out and watch the stars?"

Shep drops his chin to his chest. He really needs to learn to STFU.

"Being of light... yeah kind of. But they have rules. A lot of them. I'm not so good with rules."

He rolls his head a few times before saying quickly and quietly, "No, the Asgard aren't on Atlantis. Most of the time. They were - he was - on the Daedalus. But I mean, he didn't come from there. Well, of course, no one comes from a ship. And yeah, we had to get away from the city itself to see the stars. Otherwise it was kind of like trying to stargaze from downtown Manhatten or something."

Lana nods. "I know I probably shouldn't ask you any more. I don't want to get you in trouble, but... If you ever want to talk about it..."

She smiles at him a little sadly. "You must miss it," she says quietly. "I figure you went back over break. And I know you thought about not coming back here. There was just... *something* about you before you left. And even right after you came back."

Shep made a face. "Yeah, I miss it. But I had a chance to stay there, but I came back here, so that should tell you something too."

"Yeah, it does." She smiles at him, then leans over and kisses him. "I'm really glad you did."
