Kara settles down for a lazy Sunday in the second floor common room to watch the Olympics.

"Cool," Cally says, scritching under Anders' chin. She then shifts and turns around, resting her head against Anders' knee. "We have any team preferences yet?"

"Not really." Anders reaches down and starts playing with Cally's hair. "I think the team in the white jerseys is supposed to be the American team, but I kinda like the other team's uniform colors better. Besides, I think they're winning -- ooh, hey, broken stick on the ice. Wow, has anybody ever died playing this?"

"Whoa, that's a lot of padding on the person in front of the goal," Cally observes. "I guess that little black thing must hurt like frak if it hits you."

"That and the people crashing into them all the time," Anders agrees, letting his fingertips drift lightly across her cheek. "And the big tacky helmets with the masks and everything? I bet the little black thing could take your teeth out if somebody shot it hard enough."

"Ow, frak, don't mention teeth getting knocked out, ow." Cally slaps a hand over her mouth. "Yikes, ow."

Anders winces and leans down to give her a quick hug. "Sorry, sorry. But hey, see, that's why they have the masks. Plus, mouthguards. And I haven't actually seen any blood yet, so I think it's pretty much safe."

"Sorry," Cally says. "Teeth trauma, erm, traumatizes me."

"Yeah, I kinda figured. Really sorry, coach." Anders kisses her on top of the head and ruffles her hair a bit.

"S'okay," Cally says and smiles. "So, you giving up your Pyramid dreams and planning to learn to skate yet?"

"Nope." Anders ruffles Cally's hair again. "Learning to skate, maybe, but not givin' up Pyramid. I gotta take care of you someday, you know," he halfway teases.

"Whaaat? You saying I don't have career prospects?" Cally turns her head to look at Anders.

Anders blinks. "That's not what I meant, coach. You've totally got a million more options than I do, that way, as talented as you are. But I guess we never did talk about this, did we?"

"Nope, we never did," Cally chews on her lower lip a little. "This isn't gonna get weird, is it?"

"Weird how?" Anders fidgets nervously. "Not like I'm talkin' about getting married or anything. Just, like, I never did ask what you were plannin' to do after school."

"Oh, right, yeah," Cally says, scratching the top of her head. "I'm not sure, to be honest. I don't really have the money for further schooling, so... kinda seemed like a good idea to enlist in the fleet, maybe."

"Like, for real?" Anders chews on his lip, feeling a little extra guilty about that CPL scholarship. "Wow. We'd, like . . . both be gone all the time, then."

"Well, it was an idea," Cally says with a shrug. "I dunno, really. It's still, like, 2 years off, you know?"

"Yeah. We've got time." Anders nods and ruffles her hair again. "We'll see what happens, huh?"

"Yep," Cally says, and reaches up to straighten her hair. "Dork."

"Why am I a dork?" asks Anders, nudging her with his foot. "Well, okay, I'm always a dork, but why am I a dork this time?"

"What if I told you I spent three hours this morning to make sure my hair was perfect for the day?" Cally sticks out here tongue again.

Anders scrunches his face up and looks mildly panicked, yet, confused. "But I don't remember you doing anything like . . . oh frak, is today something special and I forgot about it?"

"No, the right answer is 'who are you and what did you do with my girlfriend'. " Cally laughs. "Please, I'm just joking. I spent, like, three seconds."

"That's about what I thought, goofball." Anders nudges her with his toe again, then just slides down off the couch and wraps her up in his arms for a nice, long kiss. "I'm thinking I might go, like, do some homework or something. I can watch in the room. You gonna stay out here?"

"Naw, I think I'll go with. Homework sounds like a good idea to me, too," Cally says. "Unless you were wanting some alone time or something?"
