Kiki was just turning to flee down the hall as fast as she could and John's words halted her in her tracks.
"I...uh..." Pressing her hand to her temple for a moment, Kiki pushed away all the jumbled emotions that were trembling under her surprise and focused on the question. "What's wrong? I, uhm, I have a few herbal remedies that, uh, that might help."
"Um, yes," Kiki answered, and without another word, fled.
She raced up the stairs to the fourth floor, broom clanking against the steps occasionally as she took them two at a time. She flung open the door to her room and tossed her broom carelessly in the corner before she dropped to her knees beside her bed, resting her forehead against the quilt.
So. John and Sydney? That certainly went some way for explanation. She blinked away the tears she felt stinging her eyes - well, what had she expected, anyway? It had been one kiss that now had been over for a month and a half. It was the result of Crowley's enchantments that night anyway - wasn't it? It hadn't meant anything - then, or now.
"Stupid," Kiki muttered to herself, and then rapidly yanked a box out from beneath her bed. She rummaged through it and plucked out a small vial and a bag of dried herbs - which looked absolutely nothing like marijuana - and, giving her head a brusque shake, hurried back downstairs to room 101 again.
"Here," she said, holding out both items. Her voice was faintly strained, and her face oddly inscrutable. "The vial is a good potion for sore throats when added to hot tea. Add the herbs to a hot bath and breathe the steam; they will help to clear out your sinuses."
Kiki took a step back again, not looking at him but down and to the side with her head bowed a little. "Yeah," she said hastily. She raised her head and flashed a quick smile over her face. "Yes, I'm fine. Tell Sydney I hope she feels better soon, and just ask if you need any more of the herbal stuff. Oh, and let me know when you're setting up Assassins; I'll help you plan if you want," she added quickly. She took another step back, then whirled around and hurried out the door.
Kiki paused in the doorway, hoping she didn't look as disquieted as she felt. She laughs, a trifle nervously. "No, no, it's not marijuana. It's a medicinal herb that my mother grows in her garden. It's magical." She stopped, flustered. "I mean, not magical in that way, magical as in belonging to true magic and you won't find in any ordinary botanical book; my mom uses it in her potions. It really does help colds a lot."
John relaxed. I mean, this was Kiki. Despite her flirtings with Crowley, she's got a near-freakin'-halo.
"Thanks. I mean, it's you, so, I wasn't worried, but, still. Ya hear about 'magic herb' and you start thinking a little more MaryJane and mushrooms, y'know?"
John tilted his head a little. "You're a true friend, Keeks. I might hafta owe ya one."
"Right, sure," Kiki answered somewhat mechanically, resting one hand on the door frame. "Just let me know when. Um - I've got a lot of reading I need to finish for Professor Chaucer, so I'll catch up with you later, ok?"
She vanished from the doorway and as soon as she heard the sound of the door shutting behind her, she heaved a huge sigh of relief. Kiki made a beeline for her room.

John turned to the retreating Kiki. "Hey, Keeks... you okay? You seem a bit... I dunno, off." He holds the two items up. Kiki has weed?
"Keeks? Oregano?" he said, hefting the

"Um, yeah. I've been trying to go over the Assassin thing, and I'll definitely need help figuring that out, if you're willing."

John's not insensitive, he's just male. And therefore clueless.
