First Floor Lobby, Tuesday Afternoon (post 6th Period)

Cally plops down on a couch in the dorm lobby, and pulls out her book. She's reading Sammy : The Autobiography of Sammy Davis, Jr..

What? It's quieter down here than in the second floor common room.

Anders doesn't tend to stop in the first-floor lobby very often before he's off and taking the stairs back up to his floor three at a time, but his girlfriend is a very good reason to stop, really.

"Hey, coach," he says cheerfully, flopping down across the couch and sprawling across her lap.

"Hey champ," Cally says before setting down her book. "How're you doin'?"

"Aside from having a minor freakout 'cause I have to actually teach gym on Thursday? Just fine. Except for the part where I missed you." He nods and pokes her in the stomach lightly. "Don't stop reading on my account."

"Naw, I put my book down for you, you know," Cally says, then reaches down and ruffles Anders' hair. "Cause I love you."

"I love you too. But you shouldn't stop doing other stuff you love just 'cause I'm here." Anders nods. "I'm perfectly fine with just being here and helping to keep you warm, y'know."

Cally leans down and licks Anders' nose. "I can read any time."

"You don't read as much as you used to, ever since you got stuck with me," observes Anders, a little cross-eyed from the nose licking. "Feel like I'm sorta keeping you from it. Honest, you can totally read when I'm around, 'cause you know you've always got me. 's not like you have to pay complete attention to me or anything."

"Except I totally don't need to read cause I got better things to do when you're around," Cally says. "Seriously. I read a lot before cause I didn't have anything better to do with my time."

"Can't you do both, though?" asks Anders. "Spend time with me and read at the same time, I mean? 'cause I still worry that you're gonna get sick of me."

"Hasn't happened yet," Cally says. "The getting sick, I mean. I guess I could try to read and spend time with you, but you're pretty darn distracting, you know."

"I could just sit here and be quiet." Anders nods. "Take a nap or something, just as long as I'm here with you? And you could still read."

He frowns. "Am I really that distracting? Is that bad?"

"Yes, and no. Cause you're distracting 'cause you're adorable," Cally says. "Wouldn't want you any other way."

"Awwww, coach." Anders snuggles a little bit closer into her lap, grinning. "You're the adorable one, honest."

"Can we say we're both adorable? I can compromise to that. Cause yeah. We are," Cally says.

"I don't know," says Anders, deliberately playing up his hesitation more than necessary. "Don't really think of myself as the adorable type, but I'll go with it as long as you agree that you are."

He reaches up and scritches her lightly under the chin. "Love you, adorable and cuddly Cally."

"Love you too, adorable and handsome and awesome and cuddly Anders," Cally says, and leans down to rub noses with him.

Anders reaches up and scritches Cally behind the ear for a few happy seconds. "You used four adjectives," he says, mostly to prove he knows the word. "I only used two. I need to put more work into this. Hmm."

He chews his lip and squints up at Cally, thinking so hard you can practically hear the gears grind. "You're adorable, and gorgeous, and amazing, and cuddly, and talented, and sexy. There. That's six."

"Wait, this is a contest now?" Cally raises an eyebrow.

"Not a contest," he says, waving his hands around a little bit. "Just figured I'd get a little more descriptive, 's all."

"Kinda like it when you get descriptive without words," Cally says, blushing. "Erm, if that makes any sense."

Anders's eyes bug out a little bit. "Coach! Not in the lobby!"

"I wasn't suggesting!" Cally says. "I was just being, oh gods, I wasn't trying to suggest anything. Well, I sorta was trying to suggest something, but not like suggest suggest. Like, insinuate. Yes."

Having gotten a little bit lost in that whole explanation, Anders just squints up at Cally and scrunches up his face in thought. "I know what you mean," he says finally, rubbing her knee. "I kinda like it too."

Cally runs her fingers through Anders' hair. "You, uhhh, wanna go do that, then?"

"Right now?" Anders raises an eyebrow and grins very slowly, but very broadly. "I dunno, coach . . ."

"Well, I guess if now isn't a good time, I could just go do some stuff on my own..." Cally teases.

"Like read some more?" Anders grins. "You really wanna do that when I'm feeling sort of wordlessly eloquent?"

"I was talking about being wordlessly eloquent by myself. But if you're feeling up to it..." Cally waggles her eyebrows.

"Well, hey, isn't that what you keep me around for?" Anders winks.

"Oh, of course, d'uh." Cally giggles. "How could I have forgotten?"

"I dunno. Maybe I should, like, withhold snuggles or something 'cause you forgot." Anders winks. "Except that would be mean of me and I just might die from lack of snuggles."

"There will be no dying," Cally says. "None. So we better get to snuggling soon."

"Definitely," agrees Anders. "I'm just waiting for you to drag me back to the room and, like, shove me down on the bed or something, y'know."

"Okay," Cally says, and then stands up and grabs Anders by the arm and starts heading toward the stairs.
