Before Shop Class, Outside 239/240

Remembering Mac's e-mail at the last minute and not wanting to blow up any of her own stuff, Sam knocked on the door to 239/240, hoping someone would let her in for a minute or two.

The fact that this errand would keep her from being early for class and extreme awkwardness with her professor? Just a bonus.

Marty opened the door looking like he just rolled out of bed.

"Hey Carter. What's going on?"

Sam looked appropriately chagrined at having woken Marty. "Morning. Sorry to wake you. Um, I'm just here to get something, if that's okay?"

"Morning, Sam," Elizabeth called, sitting cross-legged on her bed with a newspaper spread out in front of her.

"Morning, Liz," Sam said, grinning a bit wickedly. "I'm here to steal Jack's bomber jacket for shop class. We're blowing stuff up today."

Elizabeth snickered. "Ooh, that sounds right up your alley," she grinned.

"Yep." Sam practically bounced, until she remembered that she had awkwardness to deal with.

Elizabeth glanced at her clock, and saw that Sam still had a couple of minutes before needing to head to class. "So, how's things with you?"

She glanced over at Marty, unsure whether he was asleep. "Okay." She shrugged, "There's some stuff we probably need to talk about. You going to be around later? I have third period and lunch free, and I'm done after Government."

Elizabeth knew better than to ask when there was someone else in the room, but she did tilt her head curiously. "Okay. I'm in Government and Speech during fifth period, and I'll be seeing Professor Dream for a few minutes this afternoon, but other than that, I'm free."

"I'll be in my room as soon as I make the post later, if you want to stop by."

Elizabeth nodded. "Okay, I'll see you later then. Have fun in shop class!"

Sam waved and walked out, closing the door quietly behind her.

Marty rolls his eyes and climbs back into bed. "Have fun blowing things up."

"Thanks!" Sam walked over to the closet, pulled out the jacket, and went back towards the door. She leaned over and whispered to Liz, "I'll talk to you later about how it went."
