3rd Floor Common Room; After Classes

Boooooored.

Up until Alphonse slumped back on the couch in the common room with a bag of chips found in one of the cabinets. He then flipped through the channels on the television, because apparently he didn't watch enough of it. He wasn't really sure what exactly was on, so he was just channel surfing every few moments or so. There was a textbook beside him in case he felt like being productive, but that obviously wasn't right now.

So, TV. Chips. Laziness. Just another Wednesday. Anyone was welcome to poke him.

"Not forever!" she corrected hastily. "Just until the end of March Break. I was ordered home until I recover."

"Oh!" Alphonse looked down, embarassed. "I'm glad, then. I'd be sad to see you go so soon." He grinned sheepishly, mostly at himself. "Besides, I'd loose my only coffee buddy if you did."

"Don't worry," she said with a grin. "I'm around until the end of the semester. If Dr. Franklin doesn't discharge me in two weeks, I'm resigning my commission and sneaking back here anyways."

"You've got guts I certainly don't have," Alphonse shook his head, still grinning. "I guess this place is worth it, huh?"

"This place is definitely worth it." She grinned. "It's a relaxing change of pace in Fandom. I know that I'm going to start off as an honoured guest back on Babylon 5, but by the end of the week I'm going to be doing five things at once, twenty-five hours a day."

"Well, right before I came here I was captain of a battleship on its shakedown cruise. But before that and for the last several years I was second-in-command of a spacestation called Babylon 5, the closest thing to home I have right now." she replied. Her brow furrowed. "Didn't we already have this conversation, or am I thinking of someone else?"

"Actually, the mun might be having a stupidmoment and probably forgot about that. So, mostly space stuff?" Alphonse chewed at his cupcake, listening with interest. "Jeez, I didn't think technology could ever get so advanced. I might return home someday wondering where all the aircraft went to."

"It's kind of odd - I didn't really think much about the level of technology back home compared to here. I was more happy over the real-water showers here."

"Actually, on the station there were sonic showers. Cleans the body using sonic vibrations the mun is guessing. Water is too precious in space to waste on showers. I had a real shower - perks of being in command - but I still had to conserve water. So no long showers and no excess of hot water."

Alphonse arched an eyebrow. "Sonic... vibrations." Okay, so that was a really, really wierd concept to him. "Sounds like space is quite the different place from the ground."

Alphonse blinked. "So if space is just one big empty space of... nothingness, what's up there that you go off and travel to?"

Ivanova grinned and patted his arm. "I'm sorry, I'm talking circles around you. Babylon 5, half a million humans and aliens encased in five miles of spinning metal, all alone in the night. It's a space station, in orbit around a planet called Epsilon 3."
