Fourth Floor Common Room, Wednesday Evening

Bored, Bel wandered down to the common room of his former residence, the fourth floor. He ordered a pizza, and after it arrived, sprawled on the couch and started flipping through the channels. There had to be something worth watching on. Dammit, Vanessa Saturn was a repeat due to the Olympics. Maybe CFD: Detroit would have some sort of cool gruesome murder.

Bel managed a weak laugh. "Never really had one of those. My dad, my human dad, he's dead."

The expression on Allie's face was a cross between horrified guilt and sympathy. "I am so sorry," she said.

"It's okay," Bel said sincerely. "It happened a long time ago. I was only three."

"I'm sure it's not easy for you though," she said sympathetically.

"I never really knew him," Bel said, a wistful note in his voice. "Sometimes I wonder what I'd be like if my mother hadn't killed him."

Allie nodded sympathetically and then processed what he'd said. "So if your father was human and died when you were little, you were raised by your mother? Who's a demon?" she asked.

"My mother didn't care for me," Bel said emotionlessly. "She abandoned me at kind of a private school. I saw her occasionally, but she was never what you'd call a real mother to me."
