Second Floor Common Room, Sunday Morning

Yup, it's Sunday morning, and once again Anders has a fresh pot of coffee brewing and is busy making pancakes for himself, Cally, and anyone else who wants to wander in. It's getting to be a little bit of an obsession with him lately, now that he's figured out he's pretty decent at it. The TV is on in the background and running ESPNews, and he's humming the USC fight song to himself. Not that he consciously recognizes it for what it is. He just thinks it's oddly catchy.

There is definitely, he thinks as he lavishly butters up a stack of pancakes, going to have to be a trip to the gym in order today.

She smelled butter and coffee and pancakes. So downstairs she went, in search of yummy smells, and poked her head around the door. A grin spread across her face. "Pancakes. Can I come in?"

"Hey, Ivanova!" Anders waved the spatula at her, then pointed at the stack of pancakes beside the stove. "Sure thing. Come on in and help yourself. There's plenty, plus coffee and all that good stuff."

"Why thank you, my dear Anders," she beamed, piling pancakes on a plate and laving them with butter and syrup. "I really shouldn't be eating these," she murmured. "They're going to go straight to my . . . borders."

"Tell me about it." He shook his head. "Weird pancake craving lately has had me eating the damn things three days in a row now. If I'm not careful I'm gonna get chunky no matter what Cally says." He shot a suspicious glance down at his stomach, then shook his head again.

Ivanova snickered, snagging herself a cup of coffee. "It's different for guys. You skip a meal and lose ten pounds. It's really not fair." Despite her misgivings about Russian imperialism, she took a large bite. "Hey, these are pretty good," she murmured around a full mouth.

"Thanks," replied Anders with a grin. "Not too bad for my third try, I guess. I might even attempt eggs or something to go with 'em, next weekend."

"I know where I'll be spending my mornings, then," Ivanova murmured, swallowing and taking a sip of her coffee, finding a perch and balancing her plate on her knee. "How was your break? Spend it perfecting your pancake-flipping technique?"

"Pretty much." Anders shrugged. "Finally got around to getting my own computer, learned I don't suck at breakfast, helped Angela clean up her room, and that's really about it. What've you been up to?"

"I went home," she replied. "Well, closest thing to home I have at the moment. I actually had a bit of an extended break. I was ordered home because they were all worried about me," she rolled her eyes to indicate the worry was unfounded, "Meaning I was almost going stircrazy by the time they finally let me go. Lots of sleeping. Lots of medlab. Lots of pining."

With nothing too exciting happening on the floor he resided on, Alphonse wandered on down to the second floor (because stuff always happens down there, duh). He poked his head into the common room and immidiately caught the scent of cooking pancakes. "Ooh, smells like something good."

"Alphonse!" Anders looked over and grinned. "Come on in, man, dig in."

"Sure thing!" Alphonse happily took his own plate of pancakes. "And you said you couldn't cook."

"It's totally your fault, y'know," teased Anders. "You gave me the idea to try and make cupcakes, and I didn't blow anything up, so I decided to branch out a little. But right now this is as far as I go. Hey, how're you doing? After the thing, with Angel? I haven't seen you since then."

"I'll happily take the blame, then," Alphonse laughed. "As for Angel, well... What I tried didn't quite work out as planned, but it didn't do anything to harm him, either. But I heard he's okay though, right?"

"Yeah," said Anders with a grin as he speared a piece of pancake with his fork, "he's okay. It came really, really close from what I can tell, but he's gonna be just fine."

"That's a huge relief," Alphonse replied. "It's a good thing everyone was so willing to help."

"Tell me about it. Seems like everybody who was here who had something to contribute did. My best friend Bridge just about wore himself out, scanning people or whatever it was he was doing." Anders tapped the handle of the spatula against his lips and smiled. "I like that about this place. When it really comes down to it, people jump in and help. That's the sorta thing I can't really picture happening at my old school back home."

"It makes up for all the craziness that goes on around here, huh?" he snickered, poking some more at his food. "It really is nice. I woudldn't wish it any other way around here."

Ivanova almost spilled her plate as she waved with a huge grin. "Hey, Alphonse!"

"Ivanova! You're back!" He waved cheerfully at her from his spot at the table. "Feeling better now?"

Ivanova stood up, spreading her arms and doing a little twirl. "All healed up and better than ever." She plopped back down with a grin. "How are you doing? Long time, no see."

"All that forced relaxation does you good in the end," he teased. "It's been pretty hectic around here, but otherwise it's the same stuff. I've just been moping around in my room these past few days, so I figured wandering around would do me some good."

She rolled her eyes with a smile. "Forced relaxtion is what almost drove me to drink. No, wait. It did drive me to drink." She shook her finger at him. "No moping." She snapped her fingers. "I know. Presents. Presents make one unmope. I conveniently happen to have one for you in my room."

Ivanova shrugged. "Forced relaxtion. Didn't have much to do but go shopping and miss my girlfriend. Often at the same time."
