CJ wakes up at 5am and opens her door. Yoga mat on the floor, she began to stretch and waited for Blair, since he'd said he wanted to join in.

"I think you'll be fine. You're a smart kid and you have good ideas, good perspectives. But I'll tell you the secret..."

Slowly, she rolled and straightened into a headstand, then curved her legs into a perfect radar dish.

"It's more who you know. Make friends with the people who do the reviews. It's supposed to be blind...but it very rarely actually is."

Blair admired her radar dish zomg!not dirty and did a headstand and jazz toes. "Thanks. Isn't that sad though? The fact that it's yet another process that's been corrupted by the man."

"It's not corrupted. It's connections. See the bright side...people still get published on merit, but friends help friends. It's the way the world works, Blair. You don't like it? Change it."

"I guess the friends helping friends things make sense. I just hate for my friendship with a reviewer to crowd out a better applicant with a better paper."

"I didn't mean that's the only thing that gets you in. I'm just saying it helps. You still have to have a well written idea and it even depends on if there's a theme for the issue. A lot factors in. Just..." she drops her feet forward and curls over in some position that has no name but it sure feels good, "...don't take it personal."

Blair finished turtle balancing on head and sat down. "Whew. Good workout!"

She tucked and rolled into a squat, then sat. "It was. We should do this more often. I almost broke a sweat."

She grinned and got off her mat to roll it up.

"And now shower, and then to ruin it all with some coffee toxins."

He bounced up and out the door, waving.
