Pippi has changed into her new Bitterwoman Pajammy Jams. But before she can go sleepy time, she needs to have dinner.

So she's making foodstuffs.

She's baking rolls and cooking up Swedish Meatballs.

Hmmmmmmm... Meatballs.

Nadia came in after emailing her dad and saw Pippi in her Bitterwoman pajamas.

And she stopped in the doorway and stared.

"Hi Nadia! Do you want some dinner?"

Nadia stared for a moment longer, then blinked.

"Okay, what are you making?"

"Rolls and meatballs!"

They were Swedish Meatballs... But Pippi was Swedish, so to her they were just meatballs.

Meatballs sounded yummy and fun. "Sounds yummy and fun," said Nadia, who at nine, was strangely literal at times. "Can we play football with them?"

"HI GUYS!" Charlie yelled. "I smell food! Can I have some? Please?"

"Of course! There's lagom! Pull up a chair, it's almost ready. Have a roll."

"Hi!" Walter waved without taking his roll out of his mouth, so the greeting was a bit muffled.

"Food!"

Nadia waved, because her mouth was very full of roll.

Charlie waved back enthusiastically.

"Ooh roll." He munched on it. "What's lagum?"

"Um... There really isn't a translation into American..." she said bringing over the Swedish Meatballs.

"It means like... 'enough for everybody to have their fair share... So that they will be satisfied... Not to little so you want more, but not so much that you're sick... Just enough...' Like that."

But the time she's finished explaining it, everybody has a plate full of meatballs.

"It's a Swedish thing."

"Okay." Walter dug into his meatballs with enthusiasm not relish and promptly forgot the micro-lecture on Swedish.

"COOL! I wanna be Swedish when I grow up!"

As he heads back up to his room, Hamlet smells something good coming from the fifth floor.

"Are you cooking?"

"Yes, are you eating?" asked Pippi.

Walter looks up from his rapidly emptying plate of meatballs and waves to the new kid. "Hi!"

Hamlet grabs some meatballs and waves back.

"Hi..." He stops. "I don't know that ve've met."

"I'm Walter Dornez-Longstocking-Santos." Walter smiled and got up to look for something to drink. "What's your name?"

"Sure." He looks at what she's cooking. "Meatballs! I haven't had those since I vas at home!"

"Dig in!" she said putting a plate down in front of him. "I have pepparkakor for after. So save room!"

He digs in heartily, not having had real scandinavian cooking for several months now. "These are very good. Did you make them here?"
